Made a new sub the other day. Someone sent me a mesh and I made a MkVIIC flak boat. It has eight 20mm cannon plus 1 37mm gun. I am not pleased with how easy the subs are to sink. A depth charge anywhere near them and down they go. The depth charges had a kill radius of 25-30 feet so ours I fear are too powerful or the subs are too fragile.
I'll have the new flak boat ready soon. I may make a sailable one too.
And with your 109G-8, it will be possible to add a mission tye that have not yet been covered in CFS3. I'm working on it but I first finish the Atlantic set. Don't wrorry, this one will be in the MTO, southern France near Toulon.... august 15th 1944, seems that it has been a quite buisy day in the area.Seriously, though, with all these fantastic new mission packs, there won't be a single aspect of the air war that hasn't been covered one way or another. Great addition!
Probably but not so much. I've setup flak as 'Rookie' and I use to be hit by flak when I perform an attack on a U-Boot, even flying a fighter for a high speed strafing. It seems to me that they are too feeble in the flak department
I think that the subs are too fragile. I can't sink or heavily damage a U-Boot with a near miss, the DP's must explode really close to the vessel, bombing runs must be accurate. The depth charges had a kill radius of 25-30 feet so ours I fear are too powerful or the subs are too fragile.
I haven't read as much books as you on the subject but I haven't the same feeling. For me, it was particulary difficult to perform a good bombing pass with a CC heavy and many U-Boots were 'only' damaged. In all my reading an accurately delivered straddle nearly always sunk the boat, however there doesn't appear to have any room for damaged boats. They either seem untouched or sunk.
Oh yes, great idea!I've had a thought today about an effect for sunk U-boats. As they are sinking, as well as oil slick and smoke, how about a few life rafts? Lol ;-)

I am less concerned about the effect of the DC's. In all my reading an accurately delivered straddle nearly always sunk the boat, however there doesn't appear to have any room for damaged boats. They either seem untouched or sunk.
