Baytower RV-7....coming s**n! Now released as beta!!

My first ride in the Baytower RV-7

OK, I finally put the first hour on this plane. I have been waiting for the plane to be completed for a very long time, patiently of course. I am biased because I prefer GA and Experimentals in particular, but I feel very confident in saying that this is my new favorite plane to fly in FSX!
I'm not saying it's perfect, because I'm hardly qualified to make a statement like that, but for me, it is the perfect FSX ride. It is beautiful; by far the best looking exterior and by not quite as much the best interior. Also, from what I've played with, everything works. Notably (and I've never tried the payware GPS's), the screen changes on the in-panel gps when you adjust it in the window. Another thing is that I can clearly see the guages in the instrument panel while in VC mode, when the eyepoint adjusted to a normal position. Few other planes I have bought have allowed me to do that (including a couple that I paid significantly more for).
Alright, this is just a first impression and I'm a total FSX novice, but if you like Experimentals, I would have to say look at this one. And thank you to Danny for seeing this project through, I have not been this pleased to fly in FSX for a very long time! (Also to ORBx for the incredible scenery, see the photos).

I've been enjoying the screenshots of this plane. Then, this weekend, I heard a god-awful buzzing noise and looked up to see what looked like 4 RV's flying in formation. Is it a sign? :ques:

The modeling looks superb. What is the soudset like?

Also, how does one choose the various RV options (canopy, engine options, etc..). Is there a configurator that comes with the package?

I would love to have more thoughts on the package since 3/4 of this thread is people trying to register. lol

I reviewed for Avsim.com in the past, and have been testing this little gem for a couple weeks...

BUY IT! Worth every damn penny you're gonna throw into it. If you're a Vans Fan, you are insane to not get this plane.

I haven't found negative things to say about her; Short flights, long flights, pattern work, or just fun flyin', this is a damn nice plane. :ernae:

I totally agree! Don't be put off by the "beta" tag...Danny is too modest.
This model is one of the best GA I have.

I took the plunge and picked it up a little while ago and did a quick test flight. Initial impression = WOW!

The model is fantastic and the VC is excellent. Gauge clarity, IMO, is easily on par with RealAir. The detail, overall, is very very good. Performance is also excellent. I have never flown an RV so any comments I make pertaining to the FDE are a little moot but she is fun to fly and feels good.

I was a little hesitant spending the cash on something from a unknown developer but I must say I am WAY more than pleasantly suprised. Fans of GA are truely missing out if they don't pick this bird up. I did some reading on the BayTower forum and noticed this bird has been in development for quite a while. Time well spent, IMO. Excellent aircraft. A few niggles here or there but nothing crazy or show-stopping at all so far (the bass inside of the cockpit at idle is very loud, lol). I was originally going to pick up the Carenado T210 instead but decided to try something different and I am glad I did. It feels good to have a great GA bird of this development quality in my FSX hanger. I was a fan of the FFS offering back in the day so this is a real treat. I would like to see a male pilot though (tough to envision myself with long blonde hair, haha).

Questions; I heard that we can integrate the RXP gauge into the aircraft, if I do so, will I be able to retain the 3D gauge housing (ie, integrate just the screen from the RXP530 like you ca in the RealAir Duke ad Careado T210?)? Also, will there be different engine options available at a later date or is that something that is alread integrated in but I have not seen? I know Vans offers quite a few options on their kits so there is definitely some update/add-on/etc.. opportunity with this aircraft.

This little gem is going to get a TON of use from me. I have already started toying with the idea of doing an around the world in the RV-7A. Next thing on my list is firing up Photoshop and letting the paint fly.

Thanks again for the recommendations, guys. Definitely a solid purchase. Great job, BayTower!!! :ernae:

What about the GPS? Is it the standard default GPS500 made to look like a 530? I too would like to know about the possibility of fitting it with the RXP unit...

I bought this plane, and I end up with that

However, I paid the full fee. I have reinstalled twice but still the same problem

Where is the solution ?

I bought it last night. What a kewl little bird. Flies fast, flies slow, very versatile. :mixedsmi:

Still eyeing it up...not sure that I need it bad enough to justify the price tag though

I was thinking the same myself Felix, it is rather expensive, however I “took the plunge” secure in the knowledge that with the Flight1 system you can return it and get your money back if you don’t like it.

After one short flight, my first impressions are very favorable, no fancy systems, just a good feeling of realism during flight, and nice for flying over the Orbx Pacific North West scenery.<o:p></o:p>

Just got this today and am very impressed, I'll be spending some quality time in this baby. Great work Danny!

How is it on frame rates? I can fly some payware stuff, but others really drag my old system down. Would like to know before I buy. (If I can wait that long)
Hell, I'll probably buy it no matter what. :icon_lol:

Awesome! Now, if someone could just show me where in the forum to look to find out how to get your wings and tail. Maybe I just missed it, but I didn't see anything.

Ok, wait I think I found it. Is this the only shows up for Windows 7 users thing? Says fixed now.
I run XP anyway.
