Bear Studios Mig-15 SP4

Grrrrrr. It looks great, but the Flight1 wrapper gremlin strikes again; "You have an invalid keyfile" - no I don't, you just sent it to me!! Muppets, support request in. Hopefully I can join you in appreciating this update very soon Zsolt.

you shouldn't need the key file to re-install it. Try the reinstall menu again. Under the line where it asks for you key, there is a greyed out box for a separate and different verification method that does not require the key. It will only ask for the email address and the last few digits of the card you bought the plane with for verification. For me, after I set up a free Flight1 account, I didn't even need to worry about the card numbers - I just stuck in a password I'd created for the account and installed - without ever needing to unpack the external HD where I had the key file stored.

That works with some of my Flight1 orders, but not others; in theory it should allocate all of my orders to the account, letting me reactivate/reinstall automatically, but my really early orders won't allocate - their system is quite clunky, doesn't give you the ability to check or amend your details. However, I've always found their support people very helpful, so I'm sure this is just a temporary blip.

I want to buy via PayPal, but do not get along with him...
The Flight1 shop is not the easiest

Looking less like a temporary blip, the eventual response from Support was less than helpful & my reply has yet to receive a further response.

I agree with Zsolt, the Flight1 shop/wrapper system is not the easiest; it certainly gives the right measure of security againsy piracy, but then they hide behind it saying that they can't possibly have an error, it must be something I've done or something wrong with my system. Most Flight1 products reinstall perfectly well, but this is the 2nd one where it claims there is a problem, and I just need to download a new keyfile; I suspect that they may have an error in their database, hence the .exe file rejecting the keyfile, but I hve no way to prove that & thus far they don't seem inclined to investigate further - if the "Your Account" facility let me look at which orders were allocated to the account it might be ok but, as I said before, that system is clunky as well.

Not a happy bunny!!! :a1451:

Well, this has me really confused.

According to their forum, here are the specs for SP4:
MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2004
Windows - Windows XP or Win7/Vista
Processor - 2.8 GHz
Video Card - 256 Mb
Memory - 2 Gb RAM
Hard Drive - 480 Mb

I purchased the Mig-15 when it first came out, and recently updated to SP3. I love it because it works great on my system and I get smooth framerates. My specs are:

Windows - Windows XP
Processor - 2.4 GHz
Video Card - 128 Mb
Memory - 1 Gb RAM

My processor is less than their specs, and both video card and memory are half of their specs. What gives?
I've got all the other Bear Studio products except for the J-10 because their posted specs - which are the same as what they now post for their Mig-15.

Do I install SP4 or get the J-10 with the prospect of the products not running well on my system or what?

The vagaries of the F1 Wrapper... mine did indeed ask for a key, and then the 4-digit "order code".
Miraculously, this resides in a far corner of the hard drive, and voila!

I would not have sorted this out without reading through this thread, so thanks very much.

Great to have a SP4 release! I never fully explored this great model, perhaps now is the right time, finally.

Doesn't look like I will be joining you Wing_Z. So far the only responses I have had were "download a fresh key", "why aren't you using the automated system" & "it must be your system" (the latter despite me telling them that I can reinstall other F1 products). So no support, no service pack 4. :-(

Don't give up!
There are all sorts of options open to you, try them all and **** carefully, unlike moi who just goes yes/click/yes/yes why doesn't this work, then??

As far as I can see, I've exhausted all the options. I tried all the (rather sarcastic) suggestions I had from 'Support' :icon_lol: with no joy. Everything hinges on their info being correct, either to allow me to use the automatic method or the key method; neither is working, so I am led to the conclusion that they have a database error but they have now gone totally silent, not replying to any communication. So I'll chalk this one up to experience & not buy anything else using the Flight1 wrapper. Their loss ultimately, not mine.
