Been Looking Forward to this P.180 (Piaggio) - Released

Its got the Proline 21 panels and a single MFS which is standard format for the type. If the coding is pretty complete, the combination of the two systems will make flights a lot easier. Just a short area flight, just set the A/P or hand fly it.
 
If I want to do any meaningful long flights on autopilot/gps, then yeah. I understand why they're used in higher-end commercial planes and airliners, but they just add to the preflight time that I'd rather spend in the air. I prefer the Garmin suites that let me set a direct-to course and enjoy the flight. Too much time spend programing something like that just takes away from the fun.

Maybe I'm weird, but that's just how I like to use the sim.

You're not that weird. And on this matter, I happen to agree with ya.

Some of us just want to get into the damn thing and fly, marvel at the plane and the terrain.

But we're back to my initial question: are you forced to use the FMC ?
The reply is no, you are not.
Same in a Boeing or an Airbus: nothing prevents you from simply setting some heading and altitude on the autopilot on top of the front panel, and fly it like it were a Cessna 172.
Sure you won't be able to make a "Direct To" like with a GNS430 or such, but when it comes to simple flights with autopilot, you won't need to spend 20 minutes setting up the FMC at all, will you ?
 
P.180 - Classic Italian design beauty and performance...I don't care how it's equipped.
 
Honestly, it just comes down to preference. I have the FFX Cirrus and Honda jets and love both of them. I just wish I had more time to fly them over the distances that make them more practical.
 
There was one that flew over my abode and landed at KDAN. By the time I got over to the airport (5 miles) to take some pix, it had refueled and taken off! Darn Dalton Luck!

A P.180 I got on camera in 2013 at ILM International. This particular bird was a regular for many years but has since moved on (likely sold).

Just one flight so far, but I'm very impressed by it. Really look forward to the Starship from Black Square to compare but it won't have the performance of the Piaggio.

I like it a lot. I took a flight in the CJ4 before I bought it to get the hang of the FMC which isn't a big deal to get used to. Only regret is my flight was in Australia and couldn't get into the airport I was planning on because of the great weather they are having down there lol. Wound up flying for another hour to an alternate airport. Glad I'm not conservative when loading my fuel.

I am in love...this thing flies like a dream, and the autopilot seems very straightforward. Flew KSNA-KPRB at 30,000 feet and 407 knots true air speed. This could become my favorite aircraft!

Sounds different than the 930 to me and the sound folder has the file FFX_P180.PC.pck in it. And I believe they had access to a real P180 to develop this aircraft.

It sounds spot on for a P.180. They really nailed the cockpit sounds which due to the rearward pointing props, the sound level inside is fairly quiet compared to other turboprops.
