Best joystick?

I'm thinking about the jump to a Force Feedback Joystick. I see in the aircraft config file some entries at the bottom like:

[forcefeedback]
gear_bump_nose_magnitude=6000 ; 0 - 10000
gear_bump_nose_direction=18000 ; 0 - 35999 degrees
gear_bump_nose_duration=250000 ; in microseconds
gear_bump_left_magnitude=6000 ; 0 - 10000
gear_bump_left_direction=35500 ; 0 - 35999 degrees
gear_bump_left_duration=250000 ; in microseconds
gear_bump_right_magnitude=6000 ; 0 - 10000
gear_bump_right_direction=00500 ; 0 - 35999 degrees
gear_bump_right_duration=250000 ; in microseconds
ground_bumps_magnitude1=3250 ; 0 - 10000
ground_bumps_angle1=8900 ; 0 - 35999 degrees
ground_bumps_intercept1=5.0
ground_bumps_slope1=0.48
ground_bumps_magnitude2=750 ; 0 - 10000
ground_bumps_angle2=9100 ; 0 - 35999 degrees
ground_bumps_intercept2=0.075
ground_bumps_slope2=1.0
crash_magnitude1=10000 ; 0 - 10000
crash_direction1=01000 ; 0 - 35999 degrees
crash_magnitude2=10000 ; 0 - 10000
crash_direction2=9000 ; 0 - 35999 degrees
crash_period2=75000 ; in microseconds
crash_duration2=2500000 ; in microseconds

My question is are these three effects the only ones that are active in CFS3, or do you get other feedback from the stick? (i.e. stick shaker for stall, guns firing, heavy controls at high speed, etc.)

WTF would you drag up a thread that is 2 years old man? I hit the first page not looking at the dates, and saw that post by writer301 and just about sh*t myself.

Jeez

Ah, good one! Didn't notice that myself, haha.

But thanks anyway Noel - gonna try your tip again when I get home in Spring. I think I tried something similar before without much effect but I sure want to see those brakes working... ;-)

Best Stick to use !!!

:bump:

Hi folks,
Like Tailwind, I jumped when I saw the Post By Writer 301. Then noticed the date--Phew!!! ( Great man, passed away a while back now ).

Funnily enough, Writer 301 was entwined with this subject, as I got to know him through CFS3 on-Line dog-fights. Like yourselves I needed another Stick as my AV8R Saitek, couldn't cope with the demands of the on-line stuff, ( Elevator range was insufficent,not enough buttons,etc,etc ) and talking with Cole at the time I explained my new Saitek X-52 Pro. (Stick +Sep. Throttle assy. had all the buttons needed, worked OK to start with ,then went doolally!!!-Intermittent--Typing in game went illegible then only worked backwards, game would scramble,etc.etc. and it affected other On-liners in game too. Aaaagh--what the heck is going on,----------So I asked Cole one day.

He had an X-52, Std. stick at time and had similar troubles to me, so he deleted all the Saitek drivers and re-programmed his stick Via the CFS3 Game itself. His stick worked great ever since. So I did the same with my set-up and sure enough, the stick has been absolutely brilliant ever since. ( And still is.)

I use every button available on mine and could still use more, as some throttle ones won't work with CFS3 Game set-Up. Don't let this deter anyone from following us here, this stick is really,really good now and I fully recommend this method to all in here.
The stick is unbreakable, well engineered, extra elevator range that I required and loads of other advantages. Must admit ,it took me months to get used to it, but now, all is second nature, leaving me to concentrate on the LAT problems and nailing the other On-line flyers.

Gustoo also uses an X-52 std. and his is working just fine, as is General -Le-May ( Joe Dunlap ). Once again, talking to each other helps enormously and we seem to have very similar set-ups.

On-line Combat doing a loop to get on someones tail usually invites sudden death, so the Vertical "Whizz Wheel" on side of throttle is used as an elevator Trim and this is pulled hard up to get round top of loop as quickly as possible,in conjunction with Dropped flaps (At very top ), then all cleaned up on way down and if you are lucky, target is there,( But don't count on it, they are very wily these on-line flyers. ) and so on.

Could go on about setting this stick up, but that will make this post too long, ( please P.M. me guys, if you would like to know more.)

Virtually all On-Line combateers fly in the virtual Cockpit Mode,( you have to or die-die-die !!! ) so stick set-up requirements could well differ to Non-On-line CFS3-ers. Must admit, this is always a fascinating subject,as we strive to get one over on the opposition---LOL :173go1::icon_lol::icon_lol::kilroy:

Hope this post is useful to some one here, happy CFS3 ing Guys.

Aviator rules!

I'm looking at my Saitek AV8R right now and it has to be the best stick for cfs3 or IL-2 but for non-combat flight sims the covered red light button is incredibly useless. I used to have a 3D-pro but I found it to be not very durable and so i got the Saitek. Get this stick unless one is a very avid civilian flight simer and doesn't need a "combaty" stick (the aviator is much so).
