I still like GTR2 if you like racing sims with a high degree of difficulty/realism and it can often be found in the 'bargain bins' now which is a real bonus.

It also has a large modding community much like the flight sim communities and thus there are always new cars and/or tracks to get and try out.

GTR2 is still my favourite, but unfortunately no longer available here in Europe. GTR Evolution isn't bad either (It has a great rendition of the Nurburgring aka the green hell) but not as much mods as there are for GTR2. GT Legends is great if you like classic cars.
rFactor is even more of a hardcore sim than the GTR games but is slightly older. You can buy it online though, and there are a lot of mods available for this one as well.

Two places to get downloads: http://www.nogripracing.com/
And for rFactor: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/index.cfm , which will soon become: http://www.simraceway.com/index.php

You can try rFactor for free for one hour here: http://www.rfactor.net/

The GTR2 demo can be found here: http://www.gamershell.com/download_14723.shtml

Here's a free game, developed for BMW, the M3 Challenge:
http://www.gamershell.com/download_20944.shtml

And another one focussed on Volvo:
http://www.gamershell.com/download_46140.shtml

Both these games run on the Race07/GTR Evo engine.

Games I do not have experience with: Netkar pro: http://www.netkar-pro.com/
And iRacing (Seems to require a monthly fee): http://www.iracing.com/

:)

GTR2 is definately the best, imho.

I'm presenty running the 2009 Formula1 mod (which is a fantastic free addon). Learning how to set up a car is an interesting experience. Right now I'm trying to do a setup for Monza, and have managed to get the McLaren running at 1:24.095 (best time so far), but I'm sure more can be tweaked out of it...still learning a lot. :)

I'm still busy with the 2008 F1 mod, but the next race is at Valencia and my framerate is extremely low there, so I might have to wait until my new computer arrives this week to run that race.

:)

I'm a confirmed rFactor junkie, best open-wheelers and historic mods.
However, I do like GTR2 for the P&G mod and LM cars.
:applause:
