Black Lines

There are so many settings to parse through. From Nvidia to AMD, whether using DLSS and other AI augmentation or not - then the sim 'water' settings and so on...
So far the only persistent and obvious water rendering issues I have are as old as FSX - the large shader blocks in the water (in some regions ) that appear and change in tint when you get near them (it also happens to the terrain in some areas as well), and the 'step' where a body of water will have two different elevations of just a scale foot or two - along with the sloping water
along some but not all shorelines. Same as it ever was

I think I know what you mean. For me, it only happens in some areas of the world, so I doubt it's a setting, driver, or GPU issue. It looks more like the seams between water "tiles" sometimes don't match up (like heywooood says) creating very straight "black" lines in a large grid. Most of my flying is in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, and I almost never see them there. However, when I head to the tropics (like the Caribbean), I see them occasionally. I think I've just learned to ignore them.
 
I been seeing them from day one in MSFS2020; often at the mouth of a river or port where it opens to the sea.
 
well now I want to see it. anybody has a screenshot of this? or maybe tell us where you are flying when you see these lines?
 
If I'm not mistaken, the issue is that the water has different elevations and the sim can't deal with it. I remember finding a giant cliff somewhere in the Pacific Ocean back in FS9.

Try the UK south coast, take off from Southampton and head south over the Solent towards Th Isle of White.
You should see them in the Solent (that's the stretch of water between Southampton and the IoW)
 
Tried the Southampton-Isle of Wight flight in FS2024 and no black line issues. Wonder if this was fixed in 2024, or if those of you seeing it are seeing it due to graphics settings?
 
Here's a pic of the lines. These are just north of San Juan, Puerto Rico. They seem most visible below 4000'. I doubt that they're a graphic setting thing (at least not entirely) because they only seem to appear in certain geographic locations.

I have them in MSFS 2024!
I see them randomly
I think my water detail is set at about medium IIRC.

I have a 3090 card with 24 GB vram

These have been around for most of the FS series, 20 years or so. It can appear in water and earth. It's where there is a gap in the tiling. I don't think they can be fixed at our end (been out of scenery design for about 15 years), but can certainly be fixed at their end if they consider it a priority. We know how that goes.

If one looks closely enough you'll see them on land as well. Go to the link and upvote it to get it fixed.

Black lines in the water

Ladies and Gentlemen, good day! On a lot of spots I see thin black lines in the water - eg. at LIPV near Venice and near KPDX in the Columiba River. Obvious it is depening on the angle of view as they are not there at first but when moving they’re appearing and stay afterwards. I tried varoius...
