Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Black Square Rockwell Commander 114 released!

Just in case you (like me) were not aware, there is an excellent mod to add visible passengers and your copilot to this plane. It works a treat!

Bluebear, the author, also has mods to add them to the Black Square Barons, Bonanzas, Caravans, and Dukes as well as a mod that adds your copilot to the FlightFX Citation X. Very nice if you like seeing the people whose simulated lives you're putting at simulated risk.

Killbilly - very cool livery. How did you get or create that?

I used Extract_KTX2 to convert the textures from a couple of Black Square's included liveries into .png files. Then, I used Photopea (online image editor) to adjust the exterior colors, add logos, add registration, change the color of the carpet and upholstery, etc. The livery I liked didn't have stripes on the wings, so I took those from a different livery.
Once the .pngs were done, I used ImageToMSFSKTX2 to convert them back into .ktx2 files and generate the .jsons.

It's a pretty easy process, once you get the hang of it, and it allows you to get your own custom liveries just the way you like them. Here's the one I just did this morning for the Contrail Falcon 50. It took me about an hour.

Since they're based on other peoples' hard work without their permission, I don't upload them; but it's fun to do, and I like flying them.

Extract_KTX2 and ImageToMSFSKTX2 can be found here: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/converting-ktx2-textures.459605/ (though I think FlakNine has a newer version of ImageToMSFSKTX2 available somewhere (maybe flightsim.to). Flack also has a new MSFSLiveryToolkit available on flightsim.to which will automate a lot of that for you, but I haven't had time to play around with it much yet.
