I tried this dll last night and was interested by the results in FsX. The site gives a number of tweaks that can be made to alter parameters and I think the end results will be worth it. Interestingly it addresses the video card directly and with the standard set up the effect is to darken the screen when high light levels are prevalent and lightens the screen when viewing an aircraft against the ground textures. I was alerted to this file after reading a thread at Avsim's FsX forum yesterday.

For the download

The first edit of the enbseries.ini file I made was:

[COLORCORRECTION]
DarkeningAmountDay=30
ScreenLevelDay=70
ScreenLevelNight=1
DarkeningAmountNight=-30
GammaCurveDay=0
GammaCurveNight=-2
ColorSaturationDay=0
ColorSaturationNight=0
UsePaletteTexture=0

This has the effect of reducing the amount of darkening that takes place as light levels vary. The default value of 40 seemed a little excessive for my taste.

It is difficult to demonstrate the effect but here are 2 screenshots using a Ju-52 (as it's bright metal) and the shot against the sky with bright clouds has been darkened whereas the next shot showing the aircraft against the ground has been lightened by the utility.

I like the effect but I have to admit that 90% of the entries seem over my head too H:wavey:

I'll try it in Fs9 later Ferry. Be interesting to see if it works.

(Edit) works just the same in Fs9.

HOLY #%*@

This is INCREDIBLE. My jaw's hit the floor again O_O.:faint:

This is waaaaay better looking than default bloom. It isn't hitting my FPS at all either :)

...free too!

Thanks a billion to the author(s):friday:

Ok, so is this bloom? As in, does this bleed through surfaces, or is it just lightening direct pixels that are already shaded?

What I mean is, will a wing against a sun actually show a bloom effect?

If this is as good as it sounds, then this could provide VERY useful for my work.

Not entirely sure what you mean, but take a look at this shot. Sorry if it is kind of big, but I wanted to show it in native resolution.

The bloom effect is more pronounced when viewing the exterior. Note that the glass in the VC is also shadowed on the Thorp I happened to be flying.
It might be hard to tell, but you can see the glow along the edges of the wing. Making it a JPEG reduced the effect more than I thought it would.

It would look wicked in a good video.

Roger, I went on the site but where did you get this info from your 1st post, Is there a download somwhere or am I missing somthing ?

Thanks

Bill

Not sure what I need to download....:whistle:

But, I'm easily confused anyway !!

Odie,
Inside the .rar is a .dll and a .ini

You just place them in the main FsX folder. That's it; unless you want to edit the .ini

I'm going to give some of these tweaks a shot. There could be some SERIOUS uses for these that could save me a LOT of work in video editing.

Indeed, a very dramatic (nice, beautifull, great :applause:) effect in FSX, but also a dramatic FPS loss on my rig.

I'll check his site, maybe there's a workaround by editing the .ini file.

thanks for the HU,

Edit: somehow, after editing my display settings (sliders more to the right actually), I'm back at my set FPS of 21, soooo, I like this ever so more!

Not to change the subject or hijack the thread, but Roger, are you using REX for your clouds, and if so, which theme? I thought my cumulus clouds looked good but they don't look like that !

Ok, this program has a lot of usefulness. Essentially what it is doing is adjusting the pixel light intensity based upon the surrounding pixels. Another way you can see this is when using the menus. You see it adjust the coloring on the fly.

Now, is this true bloom? Yes AND no. If for example you have the sun silhouetting the spar of an aircraft, the light will not necessarily "bleed through." However, there is the possibility this can be tweaked.... which is what I truly want to do. I'm going to dig into this some more.

The nice thing about this, is that it essentially simulates how the human eye interacts with light environments. What I mean is that when you are focused on a very bright object, other objects become seemingly darker. If you walk into a dark room, your eye will become accustomed to this particular level of lightness, so they adjust. This is what it does thus far.

Where this could be useful is when flying at night. I'm sure I'll need to adjust it further to make it do that. I'll keep playing and see if I can come up with some awesome profiles.
