Bloom from Russia

I'm using what Warchild posted for editing. And personally I love it! even at night it brings out so much detail with the moon. and I love how it focus's in and out like your eye ball would. Currently adapting it to other programs as we speak.

Where did the Bloom guy go?

Its about a year since this bloom effect was released. I personally love it and unlike FSX it really makes use of my 2GB GTX 285 video card.

However, the excitement and development of it seems to have died down (unless I've missed something). I find this strange as it was (and still is) a quantum leap forward. I do know of a night vision effect which uses it... but has there been much else??

Whatever happened to the original web site... and the original YouTube video?! Both seem to have fanished and I'd like to know why?!

I've been using it full-time for the last year in DX9. Having read this thread...

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=31395

... I'm now switching to DX10. There are always trade offs in Flight Sim, and the Bloom DLL doesn't work with DX10! Now that a year has passed I was kinda hoping a DX10 version would at least be in the pipeline. Does anyone have any news at all??

Many thanks

Andy

I don't know where the bloom guy went, but if you haven't tried the original plugin for DX9, it's now up at AVSIM:

FSX supports light bloom, but the effect reduces framerates. In 2008, Boris Vorontsov developed a small freeware plugin, ENBSeries, which produces a similar effect, with little or no effect on framerates. This plugin has been discussed extensively on AVSIM and other flight sim forums. The purpose of this package is (a) to help distribute Vorontsov's plugin and (b) to make it easy for flight simmers to get started and enjoy what Vorontsov has given us. The trickiest part of (b) is adjusting the various parameters for Flight Simluator. You're welcome to play with this yourself, but most people are going to be happy with the settings provided here, courtesy of Orbx founder John "Koorby" Venema.

When 'tuned down' it looks absolutely stunning.

Does anyone have any information on getting the best performance out of the module? In my ReadMe file it says to read the documentation to tune it to increase performance - I can't find this documentation anywhere!

Currently I lose about 5fps when I activate it. The problem isn't frames though, it's that my sound stutters.

I installed the bloom set up listed above and love it. It's transformed the visual look of my game and hasn't affected frame rates what so ever. In fact between this and the tweak listed on another thread yesterday, game play has never been so good on FSX. It does say that it's optimised for high end pc's though, so not sure exactly how that would contrast to low end set up.
