• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Blue Screen of Life?

Here's what my Windows 10 computer looks like after it boots. This isn't the blue screen of death. The computer is "running", more or less. The mouse cursor is there, and it responds to mouse movement. But that's all it does, lol. I Googled "Windows 10 blue screen with cursor", and found a couple of alleged solutions, none of which have worked for me. I even threatened to blow away Windows and install Linux. That didn't work either. It thinks I'm bluffing. Little does it know...

Ahhh MS and annoyances. My W10 64 resolutely refuses to allow me to change file associations. I want e.g. .cfg files to open in Notepad automatically without having to do the Open with thing and ticky box to do it as it won't stick. All searches on the interwebs point to the usual easy solutions but that don't work either.

Strangely it does allow me to alter default web browser and programs which alter picture, video and audio files away from the default. It's damnable. No bug deal just a pain in the butt. :banghead:
