Bob Hoover passed away this morning

All,

I just realized that my alignment of the green stripes on each side of the fuselage is off. It's off too much for "picky me" to not live with it. So I'm not getting this done as quickly as I had hoped. Spending some time on it today and thought I'd share a "work In Progress" shot. It might be at least another week before I can upload it. Thanks for your patience.

Indeed sad news. Roger Wilco-66 and I were privileged to hear at Oshkosh this past year, his complete story about his escape from Stalag One in northern Germany two weeks before the war ended. He was sharp as a tack. Something for me to remember all the rest of my life.

I found a video of the Oshkosh session. It was a great experience to be in the presence of this man. At around 32min until exiting at 35:21 you see a guy in beige clothes and hat with a big fat camera on a tripod capturing images of Bob. That's me!
I have to search for the negatives I produced there, maybe I post one of the captures.

Cheers,
Mark

Yep, that is Mark with the big camera. It is indeed an honor to have attended this particular interview with Bob Hoover. Mark and Tom had planned to be at this particular session well before we arrived at Oshkosh. Being there in person now that Bob has passed away is especially meaningful to us. Find a picture taken at the event.

"Forever Flying" was part of last night's seven book order from the US via Amazon. (Along with Len Morgan's "Reflections Of A Pilot" (allegedly signed!) and a few of Serling's airline histories.)

I'm sure you will love Bob's book. It is also quite funny in some passages.

Cheers,
Mark
