Boeing 707 Released!!

Watching the Developers Live Stream this afternoon Jorg was visibly embarrassed by the reaction to this product...

I hope they will revamp and fix it. Besides the things that don't work, the shapes are all kinds of off in this model. I am inclined to give them a chance to rework it.

I think I will pass this one up, even though the price is right, as this one looms quite promising: https://aerialsimulations.com/index.php/707-2/
Man! I did not know about the one you posted, Pete. That looks sweet. I agree on the wait. Engines look wrong, but probably worth 10 bucks just for screen shots. Need to be sold more than I am now to grab it now. I sure hope the other 707 group will also take a run at a nice 727 as well. Thanks for the h/u.

Don BP;)

Notwithstanding its' price point I remain astonished that this product was released as is. I can only think that Jorg ran out of patience with AH and is so busy with the new sim promotion that he just said " to hell with this just get it out there".....

Don, just taking note of your mention about the 707 group maybe (hopefully) doing a 727 when we just got the FSS 727 made me a bit curious. I have heard some negative comments in different forums and whatnot but could not get the straight of the laundry list if any and often its inane commentary. You've been around here and in the sim community a long time and if I have never said this before, I always take your opinion and insight with either great enthusiasm or caution but any light you can shed on the FSS 727 that I may have missed would be welcome.

Sorry for the delay. We had no power for 4 1/2 days! Thanks for the kind words. Yes, about 25 years in this. I have only run a few patterns with the 727, so I am far from an expert at it! Overall, I like it. However ...... I am not the stickler that I was. I like something now that is simple, looks good, takes great screen shots, plays a part of history or a personal memory, and is fun to fly. There are lots of repaints for her already and some have been windowed, making them a Combi from outside.

Amen, brother!

It's cool that the visuals and accuracy has gotten so amazing, and that the super-detailed stuff is there for folks who want that.

But the guys who diss a plane because the #4 hydraulic pump reacts 11% too slowly for high-altitude flight or the main landing gear actuator is using a 435-03G gear when we all know the real plane used 435-18Ks could drive this hobby into the ground just like the IL-2 crowd killed combat sims. Luckily only a few thousand people read their rants out of the 15 million, and Jorg and company do try to satisfy them but to a reasonable degree.

(Ooops, I'm on a rant again. I just miss the 90's sim market and wish we had that quantity of content with modern visuals and the flight model accuracy and AI made possible by current CPUs.)

The 707 has some issues that need to be addressed. Even for more casual flight. But the guys who act like it's an unmitigated disaster need to get a life.

I have done more than a few flights in it and am quite enjoying it. Maybe its that I miss the days before MSFS when most aircraft did not model functional FMC's and the autopilot controls were fairly simple. The autopilot does have an annoying habit of popping out of NAV mode from time to time, but that just means I need to keep an eye on it during long cruises.

Not once has the fact that the front wheel does not turn bothered me, in fact I only noticed it when I went looking for it.
