bomb sight issue

I have a similar problem with the original Blenheim panel: After I added the bombsight, the gunsight in the 2D Panel is suddenly below the glareshield.
The picture in the center shows the view before adding the bombsight, and the one on the right after. The picture on the left shows the HUD view. This view stays the same after adding the bombsight. Note that the elevation of the gunsight after adding the bombsight is the same as in the HUD view, whereas before it was higher in the 2D panel view.

I experimented with several other panels during the last week (Blenheim Mk.I and Martin 167) and have the same problem everywhere. I tried to Change the line as suggested in the post above by B-24 Guy, but nothing changes. Any ideas?

Hi Skylane,

The gunsight position is controled by the size_y value in the panel cfg. file.
[Default View]
X=0
Y=0
SIZE_X=8191
SIZE_Y=5300

As you can see in the middle pict. the lower part of the view (look at the left lower windows) is black.
The bombsight somehow overides the size_y value and makes it so it centers on the screen.
The only way to fix it (that I know of) is to lower the panel bitmap with a paint prog. and reposition the gauges so the gunsight is no longer blocked.

Hope this helps,
B24Guy

I found this works well with the Morton panel and solves the gunsight problem for the MK5.

I also added an autopilot. I can send you the whole panel if you need it.

Braveheart,
thank you, I tried the Panel, but found out that the same problem exists, it is only less obvious, because the panel "structure" is lower than in the original, so the gunsight is still visible after the change.

B-24 Guy
The picture in the center is the way it looked before adding the bombsight. The gunsight is elevated with the default view so it is visible above the panel. This is the position where I would like to have it, otherwise I can´t aim with the front guns.
However, after adding the bombsight I can change the Y-value in the default view line all I want, but nothing happens to the panel view. It must have something to do with the views that have been added to the top of the panel config file.
Do yo know what those views are for?

Hi Skylane,

The Aux_views don't have anything to do with it. It is the bombsight gauge.

I would use Morton's panel.

Regards.
B24Guy

Thanks for the explanation, B-24Guy!
I thought something could be done about it, because the panel of TR's B-25 doesn't show this problem, but never mind.

The problem is the cockpit view. It is too high. Thicko used the same panel for both the Mk1, Mk1f and the Mk4 Blenheim. Because of the different nose designs and panel problems he developed a new one for the Mk1. It works well with the Mosquito gauge It is found at http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/page.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=3101

There is also an update for the Mk4. However, it does not address the panel. This update can be found here:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/page.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=2414

Thicko did not revise the Mk4 panel. It is different from the Mk1(nose). The Morton panel was made for the Mk4. It has a built in gunsight and it is off set. His panels do not use the gun64 gunsight. With B24 Guy's modification (shown above) it works well and you can use the Mosquito gauge bombsight.Keep the regular gunsight for your HUD view, if you use it a lot.
