Bombing Accuracy From 30,000'

FAC257

SOH-CM-2025
Feb 02, 1944. B-17G "Scheherazade", on her 10th combat mission to hit the airfield at Brunswick.

More luck than actual aiming skill, but it still is a cool looking hit from 30K. Reminds me of a runway strike mission from Falcon4. :)

The pure white flash in the first shot is the moment of impact of the 6th bomb.

Dead on! :ernae: :salute:

I've got to dig up that FSX weapons pack from my back up DVDs and reinstall it.

This reminds me of an account I read of a B-17 sinking a Japanese destroyer, somewhere in the Solomon Islands in 1942 or 43. The IJN destroyer skipper, subsequently “rescued” by US forces, responded to a question about his fate by saying “even B-17s can hit something eventually”, or something to that effect. Evidently, the IJN DD was stationary, but given the record of hitting ships from level bombing techniques, navy or army, the CO calculated the odds, and figured he was safe... Oops... I'll have to find the account, in whatever book it was in, to get the exact ship and quote.

Cool pics!!
