yup, Yago pushed me over the edge w/ that F-16 repaint! :mixedsmi:

I got the gold pack...which comes w/ acceleration and regular FSX.

I haven't been following anything regarding FSX, so i'm clueless. I know there's been some patches out, SP1 and SP2. Do i still need to install these if i have the gold pack?

i'll do some reading tonight about FSX on the various forums, but some "install" order tips would help. I'll probably load it up tomorrow...

btw, will installing FSX on the same machine as FS9 mess up FS9 at all? Any precautions i need to take? Btw, i'm running XP Pro.

man, time to get the credit card out. I know i'll need UTX, FEX, REX, etc etc....haha....

If you install acceleration, it comes with SP1 and SP2, so you are good to go.

I deleted FS9 when I first installed FSX, so I can't tell you about any personal experience with having both installed, but from what I have read, there should be no conflicts.

Depending on your system specs, I'd suggest not installing any tweaks yet (I have none installed) and just get into it with lower settings and see what works for you. there are alot of settings that far exceed FS9 visually and it's best to start from the bottom and work your up. For instance, the normal autogen setting in FSX is slightly higher than the maxed for FS9.

FSX works fine with FS9 on my comp (Vista64), no problems at all.
You'll see that once you have FSX up and running, you'll no more need for FS9...
REX/FTX would be my first buys, just brilliant.

Welcome to FSX.

Some of the cool things FSX features is ground traffic at the airport, including a fuel truck you can dispatch, terrain traffic on roads and highways, boat AI traffic, etc. They will take up alot of memory, but they are cool to check out at first, then turn them down later.

You will probably wish to Defrag right before installing FSX. Then defrag before installing Accelleration. Everyone highly recommends this.

If you have problems running the sim smoothly, we have some other things that can help you get frames up to 24FPS+, such as adjusting Autogen down, shutting off ground AI traffic, etc.

I have a feeling though your rig can run it fine.

hey bill, i'll definitely try it first w/ everything maxed and see what it looks like :) I'm sure my fps will be around 0 or 1! haha...

my rig should be able to handle FSX...tho i've heard it even brings juiced up systems to their knees.

i'll install it tomorrow and see what happens...
