Deb and I just got back from the lake. Went down to spend time with family and extended family. It was nice seeing some of the folks I haven't seen since Thanksgiving and Christmas. Went out on my brother-in-law's pontoon boat..which is much faster now that he has a 90 horsepower engine on it instead of the 25 that came on it when he bought it. All was well until our nephew and his wife (both in their early 20s....22 or 23) got pulled over on the jet skis. The water patrol pulled them over to check their ages....seems that anyone born after 1981 has to have taken a Water Craft Safety Course. Well, Donny and Ashley as the pilots of the jet skis did not have the course, nor did the people riding on the jet skis with them...who are even younger. So my brother-in-law's brother-in-law Matt and I took over the jet skis. I haven't ridden a jet ski in YEARS. And the jet skis I rode back then were no where near as fast and powerful as these new ones. Man, I was rocketing across the lake when I had fairly smooth water...but with it being a holiday weekend, the lake was BUSY and had a lot of boat activity. When I hit the wakes, the jet ski would go air born and when it slammed back onto the water....well, the seat just doesn't have enough padding to cushion these "old" bones. And the jet ski I was riding was the "slow" one...it's a three seater with a 2 cylinder engine. The FAST one is a 2 seater with a 3 cylinder engine.....hoping to get to take that one out tomorrow or Monday when there will be less boat activity and smoother water.
