Historical question:
Years ago I read something about B-26 Marauders being used to intercept the Me-323s out over the Med, but I don't remember any specifics and find no mention of it on the internet today. Does anyone know if this actually occurred?
yes it happened but it was hazard.

RAF B26's were used for recon missions over the Med sea and they met ennemy aircrafts quite often around Sicily, Italy or Corsica. They shot down several aircrafts including B110, Ju290 or Me323.

That's interesting. I don't think that the RAF Marauders carried the 4 gun package, so it must have been the nose and/or turret gunners that did all the shooting. But I guess I'm turning this Me-323 thread into a B-26 thread.

I've also read somewhere a Marauder got a JU 52!
yep, that's true!! N°14th squadron claimed a total of 8 aircrafts destroyed and 28 damaged in 18 months of operations which is probably a record for an aircraft used for maritime patrols!

At the beginning, they also carried out some torpedo strikes aginst axis shipping, they claimed 10000 tons.

Absolutely, RAF only operated B-26A (Marauder Mk.I for RAF).
