Brazil Navy 2001 in Rio de Janeiro

Some days ago i bought the scenery Mega Rio de Janeiro from Paul Ricardo and decided to do some work on this one to get naval forces to life in Rio. The scenery did a very good job for The Navy Arsenal just near the city and in this part i will only do just little things for the docks to get a little bit life into.

The bigger poart is the "new" fleet "Base Naval do Rio de Janeiro" near the big bridge on the other side of the Rio bay. Just started this one and you can see here the first pictures of this work.
All navy ships you can see are AI-traffic and i did some painting on this models. Just did it for the year 2001 because there had been both aircraft carrier of the brazil navy in duty in the same time. But shure i will wait for the new ship package from Henrik. Will change some ships to his ones to match the real navy better.

Also i did two new paints for aircraft. One is for the Virtavia Skyhawk and one is for the Alphasim Lynx helicopter. both not completed jet but you can see what they will be at the end. Part of this scenery will be the navy airforce base San Pedro Da Aldeia about 70 miles east of Rio with an own ai-traffic.

Ok .... lets have some pictures what this one looks like till know.

New painting on A12 Sao Paulo carrier and A4 Skyhawk of brasilien navy.

The old arsenal on the island near the city of Rio. Mostly this one is part of the original scenery of Ricardo. Just put some little life into and placed the ai traffic there.

Looks great Klaus :encouragement:.

I am a fan of Paulo Ricardo's sceneries, and it's good to see some military hardware added to the scene.

Cheers,

Nice work Klaus:encouragement:

I'd like to say I've been to the old arsenal area but I honestly can't remember. Been too many years since I docked in Rio on HMS Blake (1975):dizzy: We were on our way back from a 9month Far East deployment and met the Ark Royal group there.

One things for sure.. HMS Bristol wasn't in dry dock but nice to see her :biggrin-new:

Lol.... right...she`s just a placeholder there. Will change ships to real one when Henrick will place his next packege of ai-ships :jump:

Great looking scenery all the way round. A couple of those shots almost look like the Yerba Buena Island in San Francisco Bay :)

A question, if I may: I noticed in some of the pictures, like the second one especially, there are green outlines of what look like ship's decks under some of the ships in dock. Are those supposed to be there? They almost look like ships sunk in shallow water. I'm just curious. Other than those, the whole thing looks fantastic!

Pat..

I saw those too and it shows the sea texture there is a photo tile. Unfortunately, AI ships won't run over photo tile ships (for some ungodly reason) so the best you can do is put statics over the top to mask the image;)

With a bit of editing in his paint program the author could have and actually should have edited those out. Very easy to do in the early stages before compiling the bgl's.

Hi Klaus

Nice scene!

The Brazilian navy ships have now been released - they are available here: https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fsxscen&DLID=199700 You will find allmost all the active classes except the aircraft carrier and the submarines.

The package actually already includes quite a lot of navy traffic for the Rio navy station and at least semi realistic patroling and exercise routes - and of course civil traffic including both merchant ships, local ferries etc - for Rio (and the rest of Brazil). My traffic is mostly concentrated from the base next to the Niteroi bridge and there might be some conflicts between the two packages - also for the shipping in and out of Rio. Which passes in a narrow strait. It does not include static ships however.

Paulo Ricardo is a good friend and actually the one who introduced me to modelling over a cup of coffee in Sao Paulo some years back, so my traffic has always been focused around his sceneries - he also taught me how to keep performance high - Some of the models you have included are not light weight and Rio is a major city scenery with one large airport included and many simmers will also have the nearby Galeao international airport included so you might be bordering the limit on performance!!!

I will send you a PM with a few further consideration regards to how to avoid conflicts with the traffic. Below a few Brazilian screenshots from the newly released package:

Thanks for this nice new package of ships Henrik. Thats a fantastic work and they are well needed in this scenery. Just read your pm and will follow all the tips you gave to me. Thanks for that.

For a longer time i couln`d do new things on this scenery because my job eat up all the time for thge last weeks. Just this weekend ( a long one in Germany) i have done new things and the scenery is growing up a little bit.
Did the replacement for the new ships and corrections on the routes. Also there are some new elements in the harbour. Just tow shots from this :

Most time for now i spend to build up the naval airbase SAO Pedro Da Aldeia, about 60 miles to the east of Rio. In this base the Skyhawks are placed if they are not on carrier and pilots training programm is placed there too.

Also some first shots from this base.

Looks great - Only small thing it hurt my eye you still have to add a few repaints of "foreign" ships... I will have to get working again so you can get the missing classes... How about FPS...? It is a lot of stuff you put in... If needed i can do some static models stripped for a number of polygones.
