Hi all. Thought I'd install these missions and give 'em a try. They work fine from the British side but when I try the first German mission I get a CTD. I checked the readme file, replaced the dutch and german airfields as suggested but no joy.

The first German mission takes off from Breitscheid, which is one of those airfields. This is where I'm getting the CTD.

Here's the Data:

[runway.xxx]
id=8077
name=Germany - Breitscheid
base_lat=N50 33.19
base_lon=E08 16.08
base_alt=876
heading=290
allegiance=0
units_across=2
takeoff_start_pos=20,0
takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200
landing_start_pos=5000,350
landing_touchdown_pos=600,0
landing_stop_pos=50,0
;NDB 272

Can anybody tell me if this is correct, and if it is, why I'm getting a CTD on this mission?

Thanks, Cheers!:jump:

Alpha_1,

WHEN are you getting the CTD? When the mission starts? Or when you hit the advanced info key? The airbase ID, even if it's bad should have little impact on the mission itself.

I know it is written as a comment but could it be the NDB line at the bottom? Also, the take off start and landing stop positions seem a bit odd. The first a little short. And I am used to seeing both be negative values.

They are probably fine, just not what I was expecting to see.

Chris,

Achim uses NDB (Non-directional beacons) for radio navigation in Europe.

What's up with the [runway.xxx] thingy? Is that XXX just for post illustration or is that actually in the runway entry?

BINGO!!!

Give dat man a cigar!

I think you've nailed it Bear. I wonder if everyone understands that this number must be filled in by each user?

If left like this [xxx] ... it could explain many of the CDT problems experienced lately.

So how about it alpha_1??? Is this the trouble?

Looks like ya might be buying the "virtual beers" at the "O" club tonight!

Hi Rami,

I use them too. Just never saw one as a comment in a runway entry.

Based on further posts I think what we are looking at here is the entry as it appears in the readme and maybe not the way it is meant to look in the game.

Dirty & Bearcat,

The remake is mine, and yes, I do stress in the readme that you have to fill in the runway "XXX" entries with your own. It's in every readme I do.

The “add to airbase.txt” in the INFO folder covers the airbases and id numbers specifically needed for this campaign. Replace the airbase.dat entries in Achim’s airbases with these, but only for the airbases I have listed. The rest you can use. This will prevent “crash to desktop” (CTD) errors when you hit the “advanced info” key during a mission.

The airbases.txt you add to the end of your airbase.dat file, keeping them in sequence. Example: if your airbase.dat file ends at [runway.123], then, replace the xx in the runway sequence numbers starting with 124. Do not alter the runway id numbers; otherwise your game will crash if you hit the ‘advanced info’ key.

You just have to make sure that you RTFR. :173go1:

CTD

Hi all. the CTD comes when I try to access the advanced info screen. The airbase info I posted was directly from Rami's addon and was only a replacement for the existing airbase in the file, so no, there actually are no xxxxx's gentlemen.....all good, healthy numbers.......(.48) comes to mind.

Alpha_1,

If you're getting a CTD with advanced info, it's the airbase.dat, no question.

To fix, go through and make sure that your [runway] entries continue up with no breaks or duplicates. Also check to ensure that the ID number is not duplicated. You'll find the cause eventually.

Yup.....

that's what I thought, too, Rami. Long as I know what it is, I can fix it. Thanks all!

Cheers!:running:.......I'm on it!

Still Baffled

I reinstalled the Master ETO airbases.dat file to see if this would solve the problem. I've got these missions installed along with my Operation Frantic Campaign. Operation Frantic is motorin' along just fine, but still getting a CTD on the German Bridge Missions. Any other ideas guys?

Alpha_1,

It sounds like it could be a problem with a bad .dp file on either the Me-262, the Dornier Do-335, or the He-162.

Wow....

That can do it? 'K.....I'll reinstall them and see what happens. Thank you , my friend.

Alpha Salamander

Hi all. Just reinstalled the suspect aircraft, the ALPHA Salamander, the SimTECH Do335 without the updated panel and skins ( I like the ones that came with it), and the VBme262. Put 'em through their paces in free flight, all weapons are there and working so I'm once again kinda stumped here.

One idea I have but haven't implemented yet is to reinstall the missions, etc, in a different install.....perhaps there's a conflict with the 'Frantic' campaign somehow. Also, there were no updated files for the Salamander in the download (warp problem) as mentioned in the readme. I re-downloaded the zip from Rami's box.net campaign site and reread the readme, thinking things might have been upgraded, also checked for the Salamander files but everything's the same.

I will reinstall everything in a different install and see if I get some satisfaction.....will keep you informed.

Cheers!

Atta Boy!!

Glad to hear you're making progress and I admire your diligence.

You will learn allot from fixing this SNAFU ... this is how the "CFS2 learning curve" works.

GOOD LUCK!
