BSK Malta Scenery Problems

No, sorry Rami, but I've tried just about all I can think of but this spot remains as shown. I also deleting the filelists in each of the Malta folders but to no avail.
I noticed in the read me in the install instructions that extra textures were included in the D/L. However mine did not. I re-D/Ld Malta V.2 to see if I missed something. No extra textures were in that one either.
Could this have an effect? All the rest of the Malta scenery is just perfect, so I don't get this one spot.
Thanks again for helping, I do appreciate it.

Don't have a MED install, but I did see stuff like this when I was working on my Aleutians scenery.

Do you have Rhumbas watermasks installed/ activated?

If so, deactivate the watermasks, then go fly - if the problem goes away, it's the watermask that's the problem.
If watermasks need to be active, you need to move this layer down the pecking order - it needs to sit beneath the add-on scenery.

Hope this helps

Let me repeat myself...

Stoney,

I had the same problems a few months back, Rami followed my efforts step by step and we resolved all problems.

Please, refer to the following thread:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforu...dy-happy-with-your-Malta-North-Africa-scenery

What resolved the water flooded areas in Malta with only the coastline appearing for me was deactivating SdC's conflicting Euro coastlines and set the correct hierarchy order in my scenery.cfg for old Giorgio's Malta scenery included in BSK's Malta pack.

Now I'm away from my computer, so I do not remember correctly whether is Giorgio's Malta1 that must be above Malta2 or the other way around. Try switching them around: the result is surprising!

Cheers!

Stoney,

If you supply your scenery.cfg, I might be able to help you out here...

I will join the discussion. Why do my scenery layers show the proper arrangement in the MTO flight sim library but two files are missing in the scenery notepad???

Stoney,

I have some good news, but it is also bad news.

Your scenery.cfg checked out okay. You have things organized correctly, so that is not a problem. Instead, I'm convinced that something else is running "interference" on Malta. It could be an old runway.bgl from the original Heinkels or Swordfish campaigns, or perhaps something else. I would make the attempt to scour through your scenery folders to find the cause, but that's about as much advice as I can give.

You're getting interference from somewhere, my friend.

Highpockets,

Without looking at your scenery.cfg, I wouldn't be able to tell you too much.

I had the same problem when i tried to install the MED and Malta and never did figure it out. I had thought that Sander's european coastlines could stay active and that the new sceneries would just overwrite them...?? i had hoped to have a install for Europe AND the MED but it looks like you have to just do the MED and then Europe seperate which is a bit of a pain if you want to take off from the allied bases in Afrika and then bomb in Germany?

CrisGer and others,

If set up properly, there should be no conflicts at all between Sander's European files, (which also cover some of the northern Med) Jean Bomber's African coastlines and his Afnor scenery, and Brunosk's Malta. The trick is not having anything else in the way.

I hand edited my scenery files to proper alignment, but note the screen shot out of Luqa Malta. Some problem with shoreline and water. Maybe something missing inside one of the Scenery db files?

Okay and many thanks for your help Rami. I will start looking throught the rest, I'll probabley find it. I'm looking in each SCENEDB; scenery folder right?

Stoney,

Yes, that's what I'd do. The issue you have is that there is something running interference. A couple of guesses might be that you have Rhumbaflappy's 2002-era coastlines installed along with the new ones, or perhaps some old Malta scenery is muddling up the works. It's kind of hard to guess without seeing it firsthand.

Highpockets,

I took a look at your scenery.cfg, and still noticed you had far to many areas (41) for the scenery layers you had, and some were badly out of sequence. In the example I am posting, I corrected it, but I have one remaining question. For the last entry, "coastlines," is this the newer Rhumbaflappy set (circa 2008-2009) or the older set? (Circa 2002)

The reason why I ask is for an ETO/MTO only setup, I recommended that you place both the LOD 5 mesh and the new Rhumbaflappy water masks in the same folder; the SCENEDB\World folder, deleting all the stock .bgl files except for north.bgl and south.bgl. If you did this, and then are using Rhumbaflappy's older coastlines on top of it, that could very well be the source of your problems. That scenery layer may be the culprit, but certainly fixing the layer order probably helped as well.

Rami
Thanks for the new scenery file. I had already hand edited mine and it exactly matched yours except for the Krakow and BR-tanks are reversed in order. Also I deleted the coastlines file completely from the list and the flatten file in the Malta 2 scenery. The screen shot is after all this was done.
I will have to examine again my sequence of scenery db installations. I am pretty much a novice at this and have tried to follow your MTO guide which has been extreemly helpful. I may have missed a step somewhere.
I will keep this thread posted on my progress. Football watching this afternoon though. :jump:

NO JOY IN MUDVILLE!
I reinstalled the 2 watermasks and Lod 5 into the Scenery\world but no change in the screenshot. I will continue to search. May be in the Malta installs somehow.
When I fly out of Tobruk east, for example, the shoreline is OK. I do have some buildings in the water there(!) but no square land masses.

As I recall, Rhumba recommends putting the LOD 5 mesh into the main scenery/world folder, & decommissioning a whole load of old bgls.

I realy do think it is the watermasks that are the cause, have you tried deactivating them & gone flying? Do you see the same thing?

UncleTgt, That's precisely what I mentioned in a previous post.

Hey guys, I wouldn't be bulls*iting you if I couldn't reproduce the results myself. Here is what Malta looks like on my sim, with Sander's coastlines, along with Rhumba's LOD mesh, and water masks.

A couple of other thoughts....did you remember to do two things....

1) Make sure to copy the files from your SCENEDB\World\Texture folder into your main, or "root" texture folder in the sim where you have Malta?

(You can remove the textures from the SCENEDB\World\Texture folder after that)

2) Did you also heed Brunosk's instructions about making sure to copy these same texture files into the Malta1 and Malta2 texture folders?

This could be part of the whole "squares" thing.

Gentlemen

I had already disabled all the scenerydb/world bgl's except north and south and copied all the watermasks and Lod5 bgl's into the folder. I reinstalled the same as Rami suggested in his #2. Still no change. Do I need to delete any filelists?
Rami, do not doubt you for a minute! You are the scenery and missions guru.:applause:
I may just do a complete reinstall of scenery.
