P.s. anyone else remember the Codemasters' TOCA2 game that featured the '98 BTCC season?

Hey All,

Yes that is what racing is all about!

The cars are small enough (for the track) - the track is big (wide) enough (for the cars) - the cars are relatively equally matched - the cars have fenders and bumpers. The secret to great racing revealed.

You don't have to have fenders and bumpers for great racing although if your without it is harder to get great racing but I think the other 3 are a must.

I have the BTCC add-on for GTR2 and it's great fun. Donnington is one of my all time favourite tracks anywhere but in the wet it is murder!

I managed to get all my BTCC Series tapes (between 1994 and 2000) remastered to disc, really enjoyable racing and no quarter given or taken!!
Some of the best tin-top racing ever and IIRC at least 12 full factory teams participating.
For 1997 and 1998 the Ford Team was run by Dave Richards outfit, interesting considering he also ran Subaru in the WRC!
Following on from his time with Ford DR prepared and entered the Factory Hondas.
Shame that Alan Gow decreed that only Front Wheel Drive cars could compete towards the end of the decade!
Bloody Muppet!!:173go1:

BMW pulled out, Audi built an FWD car and it all went downhill from there.
I liked the variety in the earlier days, Alfa and Audi with AWD, BMW with RWD and the rest with FWD.

IMHO the series was great at the end of the nineties! All FWD cars, all about 300 hp and very close racing. Honda Accord, Renault Laguna, Nissan Primera, Ford Mondeo, Audi A4, Volvo 850 (Remember the Estates?), and great drivers. :jump:
