Build your own GPS and Autopilot panels

I hope it's okay to post a bit of an advert here. Those who followed my Twin Otter cockpit build may be interested to know that I have designed two generic panels using the same methods and I have written a detailed guide about how to do it. Because the most challenging part of the build is to cut the acrylic (Perspex) panels I have had some of these manufactured professionally and you can buy them from me if you want a quick-start build. If you want to completely D.I.Y. from the ground up you can buy the guide on its own in the Kindle store for the miserly sum of £1.48 ($2.25).

Here are some videos introducing the panels, or you can click the banner in my sig to find out more.

I'm not selling fully-built panels, so I should say that building one of these will require that you have a bit of 'hobbyist' streak. You will need a registered FSUIPC but you won't require any programming skills or hardcore tinkering to set one of these up. I will be happy to answer any questions, either here or over in the support forum, which you can find if you click on the banner in my sig.

Question(s)

Are the acrylic panels you have available already stenciled and "blackened"? What are the steps for shipping to the U.S. and payment? (As far as I'm concerned, no problem with the small ad...something new and interesting!) Thanks.

The acrylics are supplied clear. The idea is that you get two and make a sandwich with the graphics in between. You can print the graphics on a laser or inkjet printer, either on paper or clear film, from the templates I supply. This sounds low-tech but it works really well in practice and has the advantage that you can edit the graphics to your needs and preferences. (You can also go back and change things later if you want.) You can check out the templates in advance by downloading them from the support forum. You will get the construction guide by email if you buy a panel.

For now shipping to the USA will cost £12.45 (about $19), using Royal Mail's 'International Tracked & Signed' service. This is an insured service and delivery aim is 5-7 working days. Shipping cost is the same for one or two panels (GPS, autopilot or both). Payment is by PayPal direct to me.

Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for info Mark .I'll be checking out your site with the view of building my cockpit. Have been reading your input for a few years now .Maybe time for some action ?
