I don't know anything about damage model but it is nearly impossible to shot down this BV 222. With the 4x 20mm guns of a Beaufighter, I've only been able to damage it and force it to land.
 
Wow! Haven't had that problem.
Loaded the Beaufighter and downed 4 of these before I ran out of ammo?
Very close in 100 feet or less, shot at a single point , don't spray them everywhere and down the BV 222 went??
Used the I 16 also in the missions to down them also??
Very puzzled..
