C-117D Carb Heat?

I can't find a carb heat control anywhere in the cockpit, or cowl flap controls for that matter.
I'm flying Alaska at 12,000 ft and the carb heat is -4 Celsius, is that normal?

As mentioned before the C-117 is a beta. Not everything is present yet.

Turning on Carb Heat changes the Anti-Ice Propeller and the Right and Left Inertial Separators to ON. I would guess that if you turn them ON manually, you will get the Carb temp to rise. Keep in mind the VC is for a turbine not a piston aircraft at the moment.

Hi..on my Yoke I ,from Controls Buttons and keys assigned the Cowl flaps...I use the Key Board assignment for Carb Heat.."C" Key...for the Pitot Tube,Again A key assigned "H"..Also a key for Pilot tube Blockage....As you know these are important functions in all Planes...Icing is a killer....Have fun..Vin

I have MJ's Basler too which is awesome as well. I thought about finding keys & buttons to do the job and actually have a button assigned to cowl flaps, only problem is you can't see the result visually.
Hopefully the details will be incorporated in the new beta VC.

Hi,

the current C-117 and C-47 mdls under development have dedicated carb heat levers in the expected position, marked "C".

We are also trying to include a hydraulic pressure indicator.

Default cowl-flap op should also work via the default Shift-Ctrl-C (close) and Shift-Ctrl-V (open) keypresses, unless otherwise assigned.

The Basler doesn't have cowl flaps. (Should it?)

The lesser known Braddick Turbo DC-3 has an (oil-cooler?) flap on the underside of the engines, and it does visually act on Shift-Ctrl-C/V, IIRC.

I only mentioned the Basler because it was another masterpiece I had in my possession, not that it had anything to do with the OP.
I'm not really sure what is in beta, another Super DC-3 and a regular C-47? In any case... I'm thrilled from the images I've seen in these threads. :jump:
 
If I remember correctly, you can switch carb heat on from the instrument pop up panel. There is no switch in the cockpit as there isn't carburetors in Basler :jump:

My comments weren't about the Basler! I just mentioned that I had it!

Yes, but C-117 uses Basler cockpit. Did you look the carb heat from pop up? I've happily used carb heat without any key shortcuts. I just don't have C117 installed ATM, so I can't advice more...
