C-97 BETA now available for download!

Is there any website that shows ALL liveries of USAF KC-97 please? I want to know if there is any southern Florida air force base livery for KC-97 such as Key West Naval station or so on.

Thanks,

Aharon

I think Homestead AFB is as close as you're gonna get. 379th Bombardment Wing, 1956-60.

(low-range only, 0-400 ft)

4 VC: new VOR1 gauge w/ OBS knob and ILS Glide Slope Indicator

5 VC: new RMI gauge with ADF and VOR1/2 needles (thanks Bill and Marc)

Just found out that KC-97s were based with 303d Air Refueling Squadron - GSU in Kindley AFB, Bermuda!!!

Wondering what livery did they use for Bermuda base?

Regards,

Aharon

My crew moved from the 22nd AREFS (march AFB) to the 303rd in July of 1959 and were there for the next three years, Of course there were a few crew changes along the way but but SAC, in its wisdom, did not approve many transfers from an operational squadron (i.e. the 303rd)
We flew mostly "G" models but had 8-10 "F"s. Liveries were standard SAC as depicted by mjahn.
G models pretty nice but Fs rather a tight squeeze moving about on the main deck. Fs also had an antiquated compass system that occasionally failed forcing us to fly on gyro. No big deal, just more work for the navigator.
I may have a few pics from "those" days and will post some when I can.

Btw...Some of the 303rd pilots and navs still meet from time to time...in Bermda of course

Thanks for reply!! In other words, no Bermuda words or no name of Bermuda air force base on the KC-97G liveries???

I would gratefully appreciate any photos of KC-97Gs based in Bermuda please!

Thanks,

Aharon

Thanks for sharing that little nugget, Maj Kong. Look forward to anything you can share re your USAF experience. :encouragement:

I've just posted a new paint kit here; if anyone wants to try it they're very welcome.

As per usual, this patch 2 that I installed was only about 85% effective. I dread installing these things as I usually have panel issues. This time, I could see the gauges on
the cockpit but no throttles or engineers panel (all that was black). Yes, I did back up the panel.cfg BEFORE installing and renaming the new one. Were does the texture folder (contains two files) go? I had similar issues with patch one and I have issues with P2 as well.

Sorry for the mishap. Looks like you have replaced the target texture folder rather than merge it with the one in the Patch (the files in the Patch need to be added to the FSX C-97 folders).

What I'm suggesting in the Readme is that if you are unsure about copying folders you should enter the folders in the Patch and copy the files individually to the corresponding FSX folders. It's rather tedious, unfortunately, and not failsafe either.

If you still have the original basepack zip then you can compare the folders and where there are files missing resurrect them.

I find it difficult to make these Patches unambiguous, short of offering an installer (which everybody hates).

Quick question: in the easy panel box called monitor, I can decrease auto altitude feet by hundreds by clicking on altitude feet number but I cannot increase auto altitude by clicking unless I click on only four choices to climb up to: 5, 10, 15, or 20 to climb up to 5000 or 10000 or 15000 or 20000. Am I missing some function to allow me to increase to FL180 or FL140 or so on instead of only four choices?

I am using KC-97 version 2 or update 2 or beta 2 whatever you call.

Aharon: You should be able to 'mouse over' your altitude in the Auto Pilot section of the Monitor panel and adjust it either way - I know I flew mine this morning after installing 'Patch2' and it worked fine for me both up and down..

If you have a 'mouse wheel' it might be easier to use that for adjusting rather than 'clicking' - just a thought..

WND

Aharaon: Yes, as WND says, but also, as the general rule is, L-click decreases and R-click increases. I believe I put that in the readme, too. Yes, here we go, readme Notes item 1:

Mid-clicks usually set a default while L-clicks decrease and R-clicks increase a setting (e.g. for flaps).
Taco: Dropbox doesn't work on my computer, where could I download the update?

You don't need Dropbox on your computer to download that file. However, the Patch2 has been uploaded to Flightsim, too. It's not registered in their library yet, but hopefully will come up later today. Just check the NEW files there.

Edit: It's up now: http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=copyright&fid=185511
