C-97

The cargo version appealed to me also. While doing the research on the sounds, I saw the Grace Air videos and posed this question to Manfred about a C-97 version.

Yes there will be a freighter model. Of course after the Tanker (G & L) models are once completed. I'm eager to stamp my tail logo on a freighter model myself!

yes... ideally...the config can have pop-ups for close ups of the flying instrumentation...
I work on a canvas large enough at high definition... so it can be cropped to suit one's ideas...

Cheers,
G.

Hello-

If at all possible, would you please show us what it would look like sitting in the left seat with the view over the control column and over the windshield, straight ahead? I haven't flown 2d in decades, but your panel looks great and I would like to see what is possible.....

Carl

Nice Vid. When the Sabre appeared and was doing some flat hatting, I wondered; is the tiny jet an escort or a customer?

BTW, it sure looks to me as demonstrated that this bird is about as ready for release as the last C47 that is still a beta and was released. So what remains
to add/correct before release? I concur that the cargo version would most definitely be a great addition as well as this refuel version. :encouragement:

Just love that F-86 making its surprise appearance and doing its stunt.

I am very impressed by the 2D panel shown here. So far I have only planned for the Monitor gauge window to control most flying parameters, in addition to the current, fairly reductive fittings in the portover VC.

Yet there is still a lot to be done for a WIP Beta -- fine-tuning textures, adding bumps, an exterior cockpit with pilots and FE, texturing the u/c gear ... But progress is more or less steady. The freighter version will come in due course, too, but it needs a cargo hold. Thankfully, the freight doors are sealed shut on the tankers, that's why they are first on the list.

Holy crap! that was as realistic as I have seen in video simming. Great job! Both on production and flying!:ernaehrung004:

As a semi-retired cinematographer, I too was impressed with the "cinematic" presentation as well as your fantastic modeling of the C-97. Just a quick question though if you don't mind... What airport and scenery is that? It looks a little like coastal California but I thought I saw some revetments so it threw me off.

The flight is over France VFR Corsica Island and air base is Solenzara AB.

Few Tanker pics...

While I'm fine tuning the Tanker, I'm tinkering with the other Manfred bird. Further studies as a testbed of ideas I have plans to try! This videos testing props/startup/fast idle sounds with FSX sound cones. These sounds represents the shorty pipe style exhaust and you'll notice the crisp tin can pops produced.

Nice! I haven't been in the C-117 in too long (too busy with the C-47), but those sounds could be enough to get me back in. Hope you'll consider releasing them when you're past the experimental stage.

BTW, the tanker is a handsome devil in close-up...

Pilots and cockpit objects added

At long last we got us some pilots to fly this thing! One of them is saying, Are we there yet? And the other one says, not until we do the paintkit. And some window panes...

This will give you an idea the different sound produce at different angles/positions of the aircraft. In the front view you get more thrashing of the props, and more drone at the rear. On flybys you can hear the difference of the multiple sound effects used. Very cool with a home-theater setup! :adoration: The power is set at cruise 2200 rpms at 40".

So far the testing has covered FSXSP2, FSXA, FSXSE, P3DV1, and P3DV2.4. P3DV2.5 will be checked soon.

Excellent news. My move to P3D went fairly easily other than the lack of oil drippin' smokin' old radials. :untroubled:
The DC-3 sure helped with that and now the C-97. If I could only talk a developer into building a Boeing B314
all would be perfect in my FS world.

Here's the Tanker in P3Dv2.5 with FTX Global enabled. The Tanker feels heavy but in a good way.

Ok....ok....enough teasing....when will this puppy be ready for we peons? :untroubled:

This x 1000.

Nowadays payware developers are putting out unfinished / beta product that people PAY for then update as they go along. (not sure I like this, though I own some of it.). Time for this great work to see the light of day!!! I like Dino Cattaneo's way of putting out a late beta then finalizing based on wider feedback.

I agree - enough teasing !! However I've also learned that patients can be very gradifying !! I for one have to wait longer on this particular project - my brother flew the C-97 for a 'guard' unit so I'm actually looking forward to the cargo version more than the tanker one...

One thing I used to tell my boss all the time (which would piss him off - lol) that would certainly apply to a lot of the great developers in this hobby is:

"YOU CAN'T RUSH PERFECTION" !!!
