C-97G Stratofreighter Uploaded

A big thank you to all the pixel manipulators out there who are turning out such wonderful textures of a long-time favorite airplane!

BTW I think those EC-97s also picked up the consular mail for transfer to W. Germany while they were on the ramp at Tempelhof. Dept of State probably knew what they were doing, too.
 
manfred, it sure would be sweet if you could knock us up a model with some spinners for that PAN AM bird. :adoration:

Not really. The porthole windows look near dead on near the top of the cheatline. Compare with this photo of N90942 at Juneau, Alaska below.

In the repaint the emergency exit windows look very slightly low compared to the others and the word BOEING at the aft end is reversed. But its a fictional repaint. Artistic license rules!

I am not a friend of making repaints of "not existing" models based on Strat Teams Stratofreighter. And I am not very interesting to fly a Stratocruiser model. What do you think about 377 repaints using C-97G models? A lot of things are not really working on a 377 like doors or windows on C-97G models. And I am unsure to finish it.

I enjoy your paint.

Two questions.

1. Is the American flag on the right side tail displays backwards i.e., the blue field of stars to the right vice the left. I can change it on my copy.
2. Does the wing ice patch apply to the civilian C97/B377? If so, I can apply that as well.

Yes agreed, artistic license and all that, but the portholes are not dead on to the top the cheatline in the repaint as they are in your photo. They look rather randomly placed. No big deal, not rivet counting, I was just asking about it.

Just my 2 pesos worth -
The flag should be reversed on the starboard side - ie stripes face aft
As to the wing patch - who knows, no scheduled or supplemental carriers flew them. My guess would be that they would have been left on, as received from the military.

I agree, and the spacing of the windows appear unven as well. But I would have to be looking at the texture file and measure everything out to be certain of anything these tired old eyes think they see. Easily fixed. Overall I think the repaint is crisp and sharp. Well done TiAr!

Well I found this entry about that YC97:

59591 to civilian registry as N9540C with De Long Corp. May have been
used to ferry arms to Katangan rebels in early 1960s. Impounded
by UN. Ultimately went to Israel Aircraft Industries, and was
later scrapped.

The Israel reference makes sense. The Pan Am B377s that were sold to Israel were flown to Oakland to be prepared to be sent over to Israel. N9540C may have joined them.

Anyway, I just upload a fix for my Pan Am N1038V repaint. It corrects reversed words and flag, renamed it to Clipper Hotspur with the right fonts. It also corrects wrong passenger windows on both sides and a lot of other things. And I finally rework bump and spec texture a bit. Thank you very much for your nice and very helpful comments.

I have one small question about the VC, if I may, I don't see any wing view from the VC, have I installed incorrectly or is this normal?

Another cold war warrior: EC-97G 0-22687, based in Wiesbaden, 7405 th Operations Squadron USAFE. The aircraft also operated to and from Berlin-Tempelhof, flying over East Germany within the protected airspace of the Berlin Air Corridor. (See also Dave´s repaint picture of 22724 some posts before).

Hello Ziggy - and welcome to SOH..

There are NO correct wing views from the VC at this present time however as the project goes along and gets closer to being completed - there's still a lot left to do - I believe Manfred (if not someone) will add some.. At this point tho, he's just concentrating on getting aircraft out and having what he does get out work properly..
