C-97G Stratofreighter Uploaded

That is looking good Duckie. :encouragement::applause:

I did notice one small item, I didn't see any MATS logo on the rear area of some pictures of the real deal, I found one pic
without the MATS logo on aft fuselage. Some did, but had US AIR FORCE on the front section of fuselage. I think back in the '50's
that looked like this and shortly thereafter, they put the mats logo on the aft section of the fuselage with US AIR FORCE on the
front section of the fuselage. What is confusing; I see other aircraft types that have on front and rear like this connie.

Google c-97 Photovalet. And look at the photo of 92590, the one I doing. I would post the pic here but it is copy righted.

I just did, and to my surprise I see what you mean. :adoration:

Wow, what a find! You really found a good one to model after. :applause:

Thanks Duckie for the HU. :wavey:

One more WIP. Closing in on it! Still have to do new ALPHAs. Maybe by late weekend.

Request Please For Israeli Air Force Livery

Can any talented please please please be kind enough to paint this livery as seen below for C-97 and KC-97? Thanks. IAF first used that livery for KC-97 but switched to no name livery later.

In both C-97 and KC-97 please as it is one painting for two planes at same time, please

Thanks a zillion.:encouragement::encouragement:

Aharon

Hi Thomas,

Thanks but yes I have that since last month. Israeli air force used two different liveries for KC-97s and C-97s. World famous Jankees was kind enough to paint one of them which I immediately downloaded onto my FSX one second after Jankees uploaded his masterpiece onto Internet aviation sites.

Thanks anyway. At least your provided link is good for anyone who cannot find the IAF livery that he or she wants.

Regards,

Aharon

Perhaps we can get the talented painters to tackle these on the C-97 airframe:

HC-97G (Both aircraft are from the 303rd ARRS March AFB also the 305th ARRS Selfridge had HC-97's)

51-0363 probably operated with the 376th Air Refuelling Squadron which was on rotation to Stephenville-Ernest Harmon AFB in Newfoundland from Barksdale TX at the time. The nose clearly shows Arctic Red paint which is consistent with use out of S-EH. Aside from the standard red wing-tips and rear fuselage band, any other decoration would have to be speculative though. As an added 'geeky' thing, the F's didn't carry under-wing tanks so a paint would be on the basis of nearly right...!

Going away at the weekend and still working on the HH Tempest VI, but will do one soonest since it only involves changing numbers.

That would be incredible - thanks Dave!
It would be great to see what this aircraft looked like in her prime!
We are still getting information on this loss, but it appears that there were 3 fatalities - amazing there were not more given this happened at night and in March when the seas could be very rough in that area. Additional reports indicate the aircraft stayed afloat for a while, and the ditching information in the KC-97 manual supports that this was apparently an inherently buoyant aircraft.
FWIW, we think the tail is in close proximity. Given the very clean break, when she eventually flooded and went under, water pressure likely broke that section off and it planed away from the rest of the wreckage.
Thanks again everyone!
Cheers,
Mike

USAFvet: I am working on the HC-97. Hadn't come across your picture, and it is very useful. The "That Others May Live" badge can be found on the net. One question, what is that ventral blister, could it be a lifeboat?

Oh, and 30106 I saw in the flesh many times. The Russians used to stalk her and called her the "electric bird"... the cold war being what it was in the Berlin area (not so very cold) they were always just waiting for the EC-97's to exceed 3,000 ft altitude, or tresspass from the corridors, ready to shoot them down if they did.

"an inherently buoyant aircraft" (Mike calls her above) -- what an apt description!

That's an interesting picture, good find. I am also interested in doing that kind of ground power unit. If I can get a GPU connection going we could have one with the release of the HC version.

With kind permission of Andre van Loon, for his excellent cockpit footage!

Gray Eagle, thanks for information on Alaska cargo flight!! You practically gave everybody a great idea to use this salmon delivery run flight as way of practicing C-97 or KC-97 flying!!!

First of all, a huge Thank You for Manfred and his team for yet another great add-on! Just had a brief test flight and I am sure there will be many more hours spent enjoying this aircraft. Thanks also for all the skilled re-painters!

Unfortunately I'm not skilled enough to create any additional liveries, but I though I would share a one resource which I have come across and which I thought might be of some interest. It is a Japanese website (though perfectly navigable in English) containing a collection of photos taken by Japanese spotters during the years. I'll include a link below for the C-97 page. Most of the photos are small and B&W, but few color ones as well.

Thanks for the Link, ekkaihla. Got my next paint from there!
Speaking of paints, this one's done. Just have to package it and upload it.
