The Winston-Salem Airshow is next weekend......
I'll be riding up Fri. afternoon and will probably stay for both days.

Anybody else planning on going ????? :jump:
It would sure be nice to meet some of you guys !!!

Is that a pretty big airshow? Is it a yearly event? I don't think I can go this year, but it would be nice to plan on for next year. It's a lot closer than Oceana!

Not too bad! Beats NO airshow like we have here! LOL! Nothing says "airshow" like belly dancers!!! It's on the list for next year. I'm thinking of taking the staff and their families to this. Be a fun trip!

LD, I live about 80 miles away in West Jefferson, and if I'm not stuck out on the road in the truck somewhere, I will be going both days..... It will be a spur of the moment thing though...

I'm currently planning on going on Sunday - I'll PM you my cell #.

Maybe we can get everyone that's in town into one of the local eateries on Saturday night!
 
LD, I will be going Sunday. I have to work a 5K Run/Walk Saturday for the local running club and a 5K Walk for diabetes that the Danville Braves are sponsoring in the afternoon.

The W-S Airshow is not big, but there are always nice static exhibits and some old warbirds. Parking is at a premium, I am lucky to have a friend who lives less than a mile from the airport, so I go there and walk to the show.

Won't be able to do anything as far as getting together on Sat night, since I'm gonna be in Charlotte for a PGR event. But I should be at the airshow when the gates open @ 1000 Sunday morning. I'll be hard to miss wearing a day-glow yellow t-shirt.

I pulled in this afternoon (Fri.) after a very pleasant ride up. Got a motel about 1/2 mile from the airport. Watched a bunch of T-6's practising formation aerobatics and a couple of Harriers flying the circuit ( those Harriers are something else !!!! ) Looks like its gonna be a great weekend ! :jump:
 
Looks like Sunday for me, as I think the weather will be a little more suitable. I'll look for you guys down there at the gate. QS Jr will be with me, too. I'll be easy to spot as well. I'll be in camo shorts and an OD T shirt, with my Thunderbirds hat on. See you guys there.
 
Anybody go to the WS Airshow today? It rained at my place almost all day. Can someone give us a brief on how it went today? All systems are go here for a 0730 launch in the morning. Should be standing at the gate way before 10, drooling all over the tarmac.... I'll look for your yellow shirt there, Tom.

I went thru the gate around 11:30 this morning......hung-over as all getout (spent most of last nite at a biker bar down the road). Show started at 12:30 with skydivers and Christian Eagles doing aerobatics. Assorted military aircraft made a few low passes before heading out to do the same at various college football games in NC and Virginia. Started drizzling around 2 (just enough to prohibit photography) but the show continued....sans the wing-walker. I gave up at 3:00 and headed back to the motel for a nap.

Forecast for tomorrow is rain early morning, then clearing, so it should be a pretty good day.

I'll be wearing a white fishing shirt, khaki BDU pants, khaki boonie hat with the brim turned up in front, a black camera back-pack and a coupla cameras around my neck.
