Campaign question...

To all,

I am taking the "Battle for Europe - Luftwaffe" campaign and creating a duplicate set of missions from the Allied side. Because the Allied side involves both British and American missions, how would I unite them under one campaign?

Could I chance just the allegiance on the British missions to the American Army designation (7) but not touch any of the aircraft, that way British callsigns and radio calls can be preserved on the appropriate missions?

Or is this simply not possible?

I believe the sound is governed by the aircraft used, so a properly designated plane in the DP will use the radio sounds listed in your country.cfg :

[MISC_DATA]
unit_family=1
category=10
allegiance=2
max_group_size=8
min_speed=240
cruise_speed=331
max_speed=496
min_alt=50
cruise_alt=6106
max_alt=9159
entered_service=4/1/41
crew=2

The allegiance field in the CMG file will determine what nationality the campaign shows up under and what nationalty URIES screens for awards etc. are used but not the sound files. So if your campaign combines US and British fliers under a British campaign, the Yanks will be awarded British medals.

The allegiance field in the mission header of the MIS file determines what nationality the pilot flies for in that mission but has nothing to do with the sound nor does it affect the URIES screens.

Scroll down in the MIS file to the players_formation section and you'll see an allegiance field there as well. THIS is the field that controls the sound files used in the campaigns. Have a British campaign, and enter your US allegiance here and you will hear American radio chatter. By the same token, you could have a British campaign, a German pilot, and if you entered your Japanese allegiance you would hear Japanese radio chatter. In the end, he would receive British medals as that is what nationalty the campaign is set for.
