Can anyone guess ...

I was thinking that number 3 looks like North Guam prior to the building of the big US airbases there. Cliffs don't seem steep enough though, although that might be because of the limitations in the mesh.

I agree with Waho on shots 1 and 2.

It's been a few years since I've been to Guam. It'll be nice to go back, at least in the our cyber world.

Second try " Where the screenies were taken " On your computer? Seriously first two would be Apra harbor/Orote penisula Guam after the US retook the Island. The second set look like Luta ( Rota, NMI ) airstrip maybe looking back towards Songsong and Mt. Taipingot " wedding cake rock" . Many fond memoirs of the Islands and that little piece of heaven. Not to be the party-pooper here, but the names on the bottom-right of the photo kinda give it away. :d

Yeah, I noticed too late that the tell tale files names were displayed!

Anyway- yes, the first two are of Apra Harbor and Orote Airfield (CFS2's "Guam") on Guam and the second two are of Sansanhaya Harbor and Sinapalu Aerodrome on Rota.

The mesh is Rhumbas Global. If I were mesh making kinda guy, it would be fun to see what a more robust mesh looks like.

Anyway, from time to time I like to refresh the skills. Working thru the Marianas is the latest effort.

Rota I am calling done. So far on Guam just the land and shoreline are done. Next step is to reassign LC values.

If anyone would care to test drive Rota or the Guam stuff, send me a PM. As I said, these fields are meant to be flown using Rhumba's global mesh and masks set.

Cheers guys,
Chris

Looking good!:medals::icon29:

Do you use VTP1 polys to get dirt/ sand for those waterside villages? ...

Yes, thats what I do. I've got to where I pretty much use textured VTP1s for the "disturbed" ground around the airfields, too- taxiways, aprons, etc.. Unless an airfield, for realism sake required a more accurate system of taxiways and hard stands in which case I still use the tried and true method I describe in the MR tutorial.

Progress on Apra. Have some objects added. Still need roads and to do a number on the airfield.

The first shot is the harbor at dusk. The second shot is from the exact same place with daylight added. The third shot just shows a bit closer up for some detail .

Sure wish there were some nice oil storage tanks, to use in tank farms, around someplac. Not that Lindsay's Type B Water tanks won't work in a pinch. Just that some mission specific oil storage tanks would be nice.

Cheers,
Chris

Nice.

Looks like the sub base and naval facilities are in the mix too.

Aye, that they are.

The way I have the construction set up in G2K, I can swap out a developed Apra- which these screenies show- for an at the time of occupation Apra- which I have not "built" yet. Still looking for some good, comprehensive pre-SeaBees Apra pictures and diagrams.

A few new screenies.

BTW, just to show that we all need to learn something new from time to time- I learned something new about G2K today that had totally slipped by me all these years. I didn't realize that if you clicked the FSUIPC button in the G2K tool bar you can get G2K to follow right along with the aircraft position in CFS2. I know I am not revealing anything new. I feel like the last guy on the deal team. Nevertheless- I am so happy to "discover" this little G2K feature! Excellent!:ipepsi2:

These are just 4 views of Apra. Been adding roads. That FSUIPC link makes it so easy. I know that dusk screenies are a bit hard to see. Tried to make them stand out as much as possible.

Here's the latest at Guam-Orote Point.

Got the airfield pretty much done- got to change the runway over to a standard CFS2 trexture and add a few trees. But its getting there.

Cheers
