Can I temporarily delete an airplane?

If I take an airplane folder out of the sim objects/airplanes folder can I put it back in at a later date and expect it to work. The airplane in mind is the A2A Accusim B-17 which doesn't get along with my Creative sound card and is causing my FSX to blue screen.

yes, that's not a problem. I do it all the time. The aircraft only load when you're accessing the aircraft menu. Further, you can install and uninstall aircraft while even using the game, just don't mess with the one you're in. FSX doesn't care, all the other files are dead to it.

My only caveat on this (it may work) is that this is probably an installed aircraft with some bits and pieces may be hidden here and there (not in the aircraft folder) and might or might not hook back up with it.

Let us know how this works for you. With conventional simple aircraft it is usually not a problem.

As long as the file structure for the file in simobjects/aircraft is not there, it just simply won't show up on your menu. It doesn't matter if there are still modules, gauges and effects still in. They won't do anything unless they're referenced by the .CFG file or something in the aircraft's file.

Have you tried contacting A2A? Maybe there's something they can do to help you out. I have the B-17 and a Creative sound card and have no issues. Maybe you need to update the driver?

Cheers :ernae:

sounds like you may need to update your sound card driver.....

I tried doing that just the other day, and now I have no sound, period. Am running Vista 64, and my Creative Fatality card isn't even recognized by my system.

Am headed to see a buddy of mine in a couple weeks to install a new hard drive and Windows 7. Hopefully will get all the sound issues taken care of.
