Can no longer save new assigned commands

Basically whenever I input a new joystick or keyboard command the game will not save the settings after I exit the game. So every time now when I want to play FSX, I have to reassign controls.

This started happening after I did a little tweaking to the cfg file to gain better performance (which did). I did back up my original cfg file and replaced the tweaked one to see if that would resolve the problem, but it did not.

Really would like to fix this problem.

The control assignments in FSX are stored in an XML file called Standard.XML. It's located in a folder named "Controls", and should be found in the same folder as you found the FSX.CFG. Not sure what could cause the problem you described, but it might be worth checking out.

Just checked and the standard.xml file is where it should be. But I'm not sure what to do with it.

What you may like to try is making a backup of your FSx.cfg and standard.xml files and then delete your fsx.cfg. When you restart FSX it will build a new fsx.cfg and a new standard.xml. (a personal annoyance of mine is that you see many people advising that you let fsx rebuild the fsx.cfg but you never see them mention that it will wipe out your standard.xml file as well) You can then see if your key assignments will be remembered.

Of course, you will have to reenter all your new assignments and any tweaks you've made to the fsx.cfg.
