It is mid-autumn 1941. This Messerschmitt Bf109 F-4 just took off for a test flight but will never return. On the tail are 21 victory markings; 5 on British aircrafts, 3 on French aircrafts and 13 on Sovjet aircrafts.

Can you name the pilot?

Success,
Huub

Very good Yossarian1943. It is indeed the Bf109 F4 from Franz von Werra which crashed on 25 October 1941 near Flushings, most probably after an engine failure. Hauptmann Franz von Werra was famous because he escaped as POW and succeeded to return to Germany agian.
In September 1941 I./JG53 which under van Werra's command was moved from the Russian front to Fliegerhorst/FLugplatz Katwijk. His last flight started from this airfield. Cees Donker is currently working on a FS2004 model from this airfield, how it looked while it was in use by the Luftwaffe.

Above a picture of von Werra climbing out if his Messerschmitt after a mission. On the fuselage you can see the marking of a "Gruppenkommandeur".

The question must have been too simple. What gave it away?

I think this one is even more simple, but again; can you name the pilot of the Bf109 F2?

Smoothie is right. :ernae:
He definitely was!

Well done Smoothie!

The picture below shows Werner "Vatti" Mölders inspecting his Bf109 F-2. When this picture was taken he was in charge of Jagdgeschwader 51.

He died in a mysterious plane crash after he had attended the funeral from his friend Ernst Udet in November 1941. To honour Mölders JG51 was named after him in December 1941.

Cheers,
Huub

The next one!

This pilot had 3 modified Bf109 F-2 aircrafts, which all had different modifications and had individual markings.

The other side of this aircraft is easier to recognise, but nevertheless it should not be very difficult to guess who this pilot is.

Huub,

Will you upload these gorgeous repaints?

When there is somebody who would like to have them....
