Canberra Tugs and Trainers pack out now!

Well, not FSX-native on the bomber canopy versions, but a proper port-over for at least some of them is in the works. For a true FSX version it definitely needs a rebuild. But even now, you can use the models in FSX without too much trouble; some of the VC anims don't work, and there is an issue with the canopy glass against certain sky colours, but apart from that, they fly and look good for the most part.

More sneak peaks - Argentine Canberras

Some more sneak peaks from the up and coming packs, this time the Argentine B.62 and T.64. These two come with drop tanks and droppable internal and underwing bombs. There will be two additional B.62 models with different fits and payloads, and a few other South American air force versions in the pack as well.

Merry Christmas/Feliz Navidad to all :)

Looking forward to the next pack, Steve! (and the next pack, and the next pack...) I've got the four currently available packs, and I have to say that they look great and are a dream to fly. Plus, your Canberras are as easy on the frame rates as they are on the wallet.

Well done!

That is very good to hear, and thanks a lot for your support on all four packs so far. Frame rates are very important to me, being an FS9 user with an older single core machine still, it matters a lot to me! So I am pleased to hear you are getting on well. Watch this space for more updates.

ATB,

Steve

Hello all,

me back again flogging the Canberra dead horse again. The latest update on the Exports 1 pack is we are close to release now, just tidying up some of the last models and prepping the panels. Hopefully we'll see a release this week. Happy New Year to all the SOH crew regardless and here are some shots of some of the other south American models in the pack:

FAV B(I).82 with quadruple (yes!) Matras and gun pack (show ejected in this first shot). For those that didn't pick up the Bomber Power pack, this model will feature the rocket and gun pack effects seen in that pack.

These look superb, I have to agree that the T.17 is the one really floating my boat, as well as the 100 Sqn jet, probably because they're from my era! We used to get those T.17's over Wattisham trying to play merry hell with the blokes on 25/85 Sqn with their Bloodhounds!

Are there plans for the PR.9 variant?

Cheers fellas, yes, I really enjoyed the T.17 and TT.18 as well, same era for me, I grew up plane spotting them and waving to the pilots at RAF Wyton. Great old planes. As for the PR.9, well I might well have to make one, as there seems to be a lot of interest in it. I think the issue will be whether to do an entirely new build version for FSX or make another FS9 version. I could get a lot more detail in the X version but I still love 9...tough one.

New pack is still close, hopefully this week for the release.

Both would be good as I have no intention of "upgrading" to FSX! :icon_lol:

When it comes to tough choices.....

.....I say follow your heart :d

The X'ers can still use it as a port-over, but if you do it the other way round us 9'ers get nowt. :(

The man's right, an FS9 version would suit everyone. I haven't had a chance to get some serious flying in on this pack, but from the little I have, I'd like to say how impressed I am with this pack! :wiggle:

Thanks for the support and feedback, gents. My heart is still with FS9, and it would of course be a lot quicker and easier to make a new model from my existing FS9 source files. I do need to break into X modelling, but maybe that's best reserved for a whole new aircraft, seeing as there is a good following to the FS9 Canberra range now. Plus I still don't have a machine capable of handling X yet, so moot point really!

As for the next pack, no problems really, just lack of time. I'm in the process of getting a new job in the real world, plus we had Xmas, New Years, etc. that have weighed-in on things. The good news is the pack is in beta, and should be out for release very soon. I will say no more on dates!

Here's one of the other Argentine B.Mk.62 models prepping for a dawn flight...my current favorite :)

Steve, it is looking great. Good luck in the RW finding a new job. Happy New Year to you and yours. Take care.

Thanks a lot, Ed, by tomorrow I should know if I get the formal offer or not, but it is looking good. Fingers crossed for that and I will be off to a good 2011 in that respect :)

Andy, yes, I had been following it for a while, and have had fairly good success with it. It's not 100% foolproof for me, and I still run into more shortcomings than I think Lionheart does, but it certainly has extended the poly count beyond what I was originally able to achieve with Middleman etc. so no complaints there. Many of the features I have now been able to include are thanks to his method. The main issue I have is the LOD model breakouts do not cast shadows, so I have to limit the parts in these breakouts to interior details that would not cast shadows anyway. So, I am limited by this, but as I said, it buys me a lot more polys to play with in the base model which is nice.
