can't find b-24d_liberator in the library

OK guys
Take me around the mountain again. I have checked the model (also the correct spelling), sound, panel, aircraft.cfg, mdl.txt etc. What am I missing?:dizzy:

when using MB becareful selecting ACs that are linked to another.

Example:

You have 2 textures for the same AC. You have all of them listed in the aircraft.cfg.

title=P-38F Lightning
sim=P38F_Lightning

title=P-38F Lightning (Brown)
sim=P38F_Lightning

sound=
texture=1

If you use any one other then the first one, CFS2 will not be able to locate it.

So, if you want to use more then one in a mission, you will have to make a second folder for the other AC. You can alias all of the sound and panel to the primary model. Thats what CK and Rami have done in their campaign packs.

I'm 99% sure you can hand edit the mission so it can find and load aircraft by title= name but MB will mess it up soon as you edit the mission.

Yup...

It will do the same with waypoints and such. Realy anything hand edited that MB doesn't like.

did you name the folder like this

B24D_LIBERATOR

or like this

B-24D_LIBERATOR

The first one is the correct name for the folder.

the aircraft.cfg shold look like this...

[fltsim.0]
title=B-24D Liberator
sim=B24D_Liberator
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=

Model.cfg and .mdl name should be the same as the folder... B24D_Liberator

So should the DP and airfile. This is for the stock and OH B24s only.

Rami's response did not solve the problem. the message shows up as soon as the sim loads. When I click on close, it CDT.

All names match as per your response. I had already checked that--I did again.

a/c manger shows 88 planes.

I am scratching my head. It must be something simple.

I am not going to let this stump me!

...my 2 cents her. Make sure that the .CFG file is exactly that. I found I was getting that message and some of my a\c had their extensions changed to .CGF . Corrected it and viola! the planes were back. I remember this being the subject of a post waaaaaaaaaaaaay back.

The newer B-24 by The B24 Guy is a straight swap for the original. Is this a campaign mission you are struggling with? Which one, if you are? :dizzy:
 
.cfg file name is correct. The sim never gets to the option screen for free Flt, QC,Mission or Campaign. As soon as I close the message that it cannot find the B-24, it CTD although the task manager says it is still running.
 
I am running XP and all my other theater sims are running OK. This particular theater is my S.W. Pacific with USMC, RAAF, Papau N.G. D.O.A etc. It was running OK just a couple of days ago. I made a correction or two in Talon's USMC so maybe I will go back to see what the heck happened. I was only getting the FDG2 F4F-4 Wildcats correctly installed.

Best guess is it might be a .dll problem. (In the modules folder) I had an anti-virus update once where all of my installs went "tits-up" at the same time, because my anti-virus update identified one of the module files as a virus and removed it, so nothing worked. You may want to copy the contents of the modules folder from a working/virgin install into the troublesome one and see if that helps, or rip it from your install disks.

I would not be surprised if somehow, this is the cause of your trouble.

Make sure you also delete all the .cdp and filelist.dat files to allow the sim to cleanse itself.

I did the .cdp and filelist.dat a couple of times already. The strange thing is that day before yesterday I flew two missions in the same sim that are Talon's Coral Sea missions. One in a SBD and the other in a Devastaor--no issues.
I will do as you suggested and see if that is a fix. Be back later this eveining. Chores to do now! :)

OK the module replacement did not work either! I tried to bring another B-24 from another sim in and sometimes when I close the "can't find B-24" it will go ahead and bring up the srcreen to select missions. I fly missions with no issue , but cannot fly ANYTHING though in Free flight or QC.
 
You should be able to stop this by going into the info folder and opening the descrip.dat with notepad/wordpad and delete # B24D_Liberator and info below it from the descrip.dat.

This is the FGD2 wildcat I was having trouble with the sim recognizing it yesterday.
Maybe I need to delete it and reinstall.
 
It could be all of the spaces in the folder name. What I would do is change the folder name to F4F4_Wildcat_VMF_223 and try again.
 
My recommendation is to always make a second copy of you CFS2 copy. Thats easy, just copy and paste from a good working install CFS2. Take whatever is not working properly in your install and replace through the copy and paste procedure from your backup CFS2.
 
Another thing is to make sure that unit 9308 is in a formation. You should be able to find unit 9308 by seaching the mission with notepad. You should fine 9308 with in a [formation.#]
