Carenado CT182T for FSX/Prepar3d RELEASED!

must have tomatoes on the eyes :)

On some of the Pictures he is difficult to see, because he is painted as the background.

With respect Matt, neither you nor Carenado could possibly afford a realistically programmed G1000, especially not in what is in the final analysis nothing more than an "entertainment" package... :gameoff:

Seriously, beyond the expense of the programming, licensing the data nearly doubles the costs... :pop4:

I am well aware of that. Listen...I fly the Perspective G1000 and Avidyne Entegra in real life. All I use these silly flightsim toys for is a bit of fun and to stay sharp with procedures when I am not flying constantly. I am fully aware that it adds cost. I am simply stating that Flight1 did it with their G1000. It doesnt need to be exact....

So please don't treat me like a 5-year old...I understand the ins and outs, and hoped that there would have been more complete functionality. I feel that Carenado has come far enough at this point to break out of the 'simple' mode and maybe strike up a deal with navigraph or whatnot so that there could be at least bit more usability. I love the visual model, but in the end that is really all it is...

Why should they? I don't see how they could justify a higher price. I was amazed about the numerous complaints that the C90 costs 40USD.
If people start complaining at that price, you don't even start to think about including expensive additional features.
If you want to train for RW flying you are definitely not a target customer for Carenado so there's no need for them to break out of anything.
I'm surprised that there's no training software for your mentioned Perspective G1000 and Avidyne Entegra.

I agree but some just cant do it with maps, stop watch and compass any more!

I’d be more than happy to fly with maps, stopwatch and compass. But why in the world would you want to do that in a G1000 equipped airplane? One of the defining characteristics of the T182T is the G1000 avionics suite. Carenado decided to model a G1000 plane without modeling the G1000. The reason we keep getting such low functionality in FS models is because the fanboys out there are perfectly happy as long as they have nothing more than set of pretty textures to drill around in.

...There is, Bernt. I already own it. It just can't be used inside of FSX, and has to be used on its own. It works great, and cost a lot of money. I understand your point about people complaining about price, but, again, I reference the Flight1 model which costs $50 (and was recently on sale for $40) that has everything I am asking Carenado to implement into their glass. So, would it really be a stretch? How much, for example, does a P-40 with Accusim cost? Something like $55? Well, why couldn't a developer like Carenado do something similar? Have a base aircraft, with their basic G1000. And develop a seperate avionics package that would be a bit more complete and complex, for an additional cost?

I can only speak for myself in this. But, as the owner of a $160 Eaglesoft Cirrus SR-22 Turbo, I also won't ever complain about price...

When the CT182T was announced I asked Carenado if they are aware that there's an almost identical version available from F1 and with most probably higher functionality...
I would have have preferred a new steam 182 (not only due to the higher frame rate) for that very reason.
It was already difficult enough (and it took a few e-mails) to convince them that better FDEs for their planes would be a good idea!

If I was to buy this plane...the ONLY reason I would do so is because your excellent FDE work is second to none. Heck...I can justify the $33 for your flight dynamics alone!!

Dont buy it then Monk - then you wont have the problem!

So, a question. I'm not good at tweaking airplanes so I honestly don't know. Why couldn't someone buy both airplanes and merge one with the other? Is that possible?

Theoretically you could have the F1 interior/gauges with the Carenado exterior/fde.

But I'm guessing the VC views would be a little interesting...

I'm with Matt though - it's a beautiful model and I'm sure the fde is excellent but default GPS with a G1000 skin doesn't work for me... the biggest issue: old navdata (ie fsx default). I completely understand most people don't care about that stuff, but I think I'm able to voice my opinion as well.

Anyway I wish Carenado well with this release - it certainly seems popular!

I am finding that using the RXP GNS 530 as a flight planner is an acceptable solution for now. I would really like to see the flight planning capability added though.

For the price I absolutely cannot complain. I'm going to fly the heck out of this one. :gameon:

Gee Matt, I sure didn't think I was being condescending. If that's what you got from my comments, then I do apologize, as that was the furthest thing from my mind...

Since you seem so intent on advanced fidelity for the G1000 system, why not consider Mindstar's version? http://www.mindstarprods.com/aviation/

It includes support (via a .cfg file) for the 182S and 182T. The latter uses the Garmin GFC-700 AFCS, so it should be pretty much a cinch to replace the PFD, MFD, and GFC-700 gauges.

I appreciate the apology, and actually it was most likely me who misinterpreted. So, my apologies.

...As for the Mindstar G1000, it (at least from what I have been able to glean from their website) doesn't really offer much more than the Carenado model's. For example , Most of the advanced features seem to be in some kind of 'developmental' or 'beta' form. I will have to peruse the forum there to find out about the nav database and whether or not fully-coupled LPV approaches can be flown with it. Also, Nexrad-style weather overlay, and terrain (which they do mention), but weather is most likely asking too much:icon_lol:

Their Commander may be a good alternative. Plenty of steam guages there and an usual auto pilot.
