Carenado is having a 10 day sale-50% off of FS2004 aircraft

This was most excellent news!:ernae:
I got the C185 Bush package and the Saratoga.
I know, maybe an odd pairing but while I love bushplanes (and nothing says bushplane like a Skywagon with the cartoon tires and big ol cargo pod), I have always had a thing for the Saratoga.
My wife says she won't let me get a pilots license because of that whole JFK Jr incident in 1999. Now I can fly that flight in the right plane and totally prove her wrong.:jump: (I got the flight from toomuchfs.com; it's in the archives somewhere IIRC)

I am so tempted to buy the C182 Bush Package....for $9.50 and get 4 models! But I don't know if I would fly it enough to justify spending the money on it. Deb gave me the green light to buy it...but I think I need to sleep on it a day or two.

OBIO
Dude, you got a wife that will greenlight this sort of thing?!? She's definitely a keeper.
I've a feeling you would like this one too.
It's got that vintage panel feel to it what with the gauges sprinkled all over the place (kind of like a 1959 Bonanza but more random). There's lots of eye candy like working sunvisors, removeable cargo pod, you can take out seats for crates of booze...I mean cargo...It's a wonderful plane. Autopilot's only a single axis deal but I've a feeling if you didn't like it you could swap that out for something a bit more substantial.
It's definitely worth the $9.50.

Carenado C185F Bush TUNDRA

Ive read that the bouncing tundra-tired C185 duznt always happen on all systems (go figure). It sure gets to bouncing until out of control on mine.

This is the fix/tweak that works for me. It stopped the progressive bounce and adjusts to an acceptable stance on the rwy. It's a conglomeration of others work found thru google searching and my own input (and of course the Carenado team).

Thanks for the HU!!!
You can't go wrong with Carenado's brilliant aircrafts. I have two of their Cessnas ( C-172N & CU-206G Stationair 6 II ) and the M20J 201. ( Couple of months ago, in august, I was lucky to try the Moony for real!...:jump: )
Now I'm going to check out their Piper Seneca II. Allways wanted this one, and I did some online-
shopping at Carenado's. Can't wait to get this beauty into the skies..

I love the 182 RG. Horrible looking white panel, but the rest is just BRILLIANT!

I did some paints and interior treatments including one wood looking version for it if you end up getting it.

For anyone having bouncing problems with any of the C185s, I recommend trying the fixes on this AvSim forum page.

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/288409-c185-bush-for-fs9/

Do read through the whole page. They worked fine for me, just thought I'd share.

Happy Merry !!

Bill, I have your paints for the 182RG. All very sweet!

aardvark62, Thanks for the link! Good stuff for taming the C185F.

I've been wanting to buy the 185 Bush pack for a while myself, and have been thinking on it. Maybe... Wait, this is the ONLY best time to buy it... For 50% off we'd be dumb to not get what we've wanted, right?... Guys?... ;)

Ok, that Cartoon Tires thing had me crackin' up. I've always called them tundra tires, but that got me to thinking about that old movie with the B-17 that the guy drew tires for on their landing and they actually survived. And cartoon tires is just funny as hell either way. Nice Doc! :ernae:

Glad I could help, mate! :wavey:

Now look at this amazing beauty:

As far as I can see (coming back from my first short test hop above Skagway), the only thing I could improve about this grace is giving her a decent 2D panel utilizing a screenshot of her awesome VC.
Sorry: I simply can't help fiddling on my aircraft - even though they seem to be just perfect...

Cheers,
Markus.

You're too right, Markus! A good 2D panel would add a lot to this beauty. I don't know about others experiences, but due to a visual imparement I have a difficult time with VCs, even Carenado's excellent ones. I miss their 2D work and would love to see a skillfully executed 2D panel for the 185F. LA

I picked up the C185 package for 2004 as well as the Vtail Bonanza. I stupidly talked myself out of the 206! Grrr. I've been wanting that one for a couple of years now, duh. Wifey says "you're done" for the near term. Taxes coming up! But $14.95 more? I'm stupid or something for not getting the 206.

I own a couple of Carenado's for FSX, but FS9 absolutely grooves on my machine. FSX runs well, but not like the butter that is FS9 on a quad-core machine with a good video card. The bush plane was calling my name, but I didn't want to buy it for FSX. I'm glad I put in on FS9! Yeah!

I will buy that 402 for FSX, though. That's close enough to the local commuter aircraft that I can fly that flight realistically.

Thank you PT! :ernae:
That old movie was from a TV series back in 1985, 'Amazing Stories'. That episode, 'The Mission' was my favorite by far. Kevin Costner played the pilot and Kiefer Sutherland played the radio operator. IIRC Steven Spielberg was an executive producer
A little OT but now if someone could make a repaint of a B-17F, call it 'Friendly Persuasion' and put on orange tires (one with a patch on it) and candycane landing gear struts that would be awesome:jump:...

Because it is Xmas I have splurged on some more Carenado hangar hardware.
Mooney,V35 and the Dakota now join the 210,206,185 and Seneca and Saratoga already in the hangar. For me the Saratoga was of course a must have...just need to finish the paint job to make her look like my real 87B.
For the Saratoga, the Seneca and the 200 series Cessna I can definitely attest that they fly like their real world counter parts. Very very nicely done.

If you are thinking of getting just one Carenado airplane I would have to say get the 206 or 185 packs....they are really really good.
And don't let the missing 2D panel stop you from any purchase...the VC in all those that I have are fully functional, little or no FPS impact and really give you the feeling of being in an airplane. I fly IFR and VFR both simulated and real world and have never quite understood the argument that this might be easier with a 2D panel....but I have certainly never missed one in the Carenado airplanes.

I did have a small glitch with the Seneca but one quick e-mail exchange with their support staff fixed that. So customer service gets a top mark from me as well.
Now I just need to get the light buttons adjusted to match my real Saratoga and get rid of some of the old NAV equipment and install the GNS530, 330 Xpnder and 347 Audio Panel and I am right at home.

Thanks for the great deal for Xmas to the gang at Carenado. Merry Christmas to all of you and here is hoping that in 2011 you will come back to FS9 with a few more GA titles....

Thanks Carenado for your great FS2004 models!!! It is a really great sale. I did self gifting with a few myself (smile). What a great Holiday season it is for sure. Take care.

. . . I was going to purchase the latest Bonanza V35, but don't see anywhere in the checkout where any discount was applied.
Fonny t'ing you should mention (with a Yiddish accent)! I'm in the same boat. Must be that they're coveting their V35, huh?

The V35 shows as $8.50 and that is what I paid for it. Not sure how much more discounted it could be short of being free :)

Cheers

Yep, for 2004. . .sorry I posted in the wrong Forum, lol. I flip back and forth so much I posted before I realized I was in 2004 and not FSX. They didn't discount any of their NEW stuff. Bummer!:salute:

Dear C185 Bush pilots,
i dont want to interrupt all this enthusiasm. Maybe i am expecting too much, but: when i have purchased the C185 Bush i noted that:
1.) contact points of all three models were crap. Float, ski and tundra were impossible to land.
that was easiliy fixed by the community.
2.) The trim wheels move/rotate to the wrong direction
3.) In the ski version there is a three blade propeller from outside but only 2 blades from the VC

I have asked for that but get response only for item 1

Shall we group up and ask again or do you consider a discount as a trade of for such issues ?

... or do you consider a discount as a trade of for such issues ?

This product was already discounted (at least when I bought it...), and I still think it is a fair price.
The contact points are quite an issue, and I wonder why it hasn't been fixed before - did no one in the beta phase realize this mad hopping?

I don't care about the trimwheel movement, as I have two joystick buttons assigned to the elevator trim and don't use the VC wheel. I didn't even notice its wrong direction, same goes for the number of prop blades visible...

Cheers,
Markus.

Having a little trouble here. I ordered the 206 and installed it. Everything went fine. Great airplane.
Then I ordered the 152. I went to install it and it asked for a serial number from my confirmation email to install it. Here's the problem, I never received a confirmation email with either order.
I have emailed them twice since ordering and have yet to hear anything back.
My question is are they good at getting back to people? This is my first problem when ordering from them.
