While making test missions for the LL Bombsight for TR's PBJ, ...

I found the AK/AO/Troop/LST ships (Cargo, Tanker, Troop, Landing) were fast, ...very fast.

In most ship's .dp:

Speeds for WWII era AK/AO/Troop/LST ships:

Type C1 ship (small freighter)=14kts(26kph)
Type C2 ship (medium freighter)=15.5-19kts(29-35kph)
Type C3 ship (large freighter/CVE)=16.5-20kts(31-37kph)
Type T2 tanker (large oiler)=15kts(28kph)
Liberty ship (C1 w/ steam engine)=11-11.5kts(20-21kph)
Victory ship (C1 w/ Hi-per steam engines)=15-17kts(28-31kph)
Troopship (Civilian Liner)=17-19kts(31-35kph)
LST (Landing Ship, Tank)=12kts(22kph)


Since convoys steamed at the speed of the slowest ships included:

1. Set All "cruise_speed" to the Liberty ship, ...21kph (11.5kts)
2. Set the "max_speed" to the individual ship max speed.

This gives you realistically slow convoys, ...and realistic(and variable) individual maneuver speeds.

Hey BD, I was messing around with some ships recently and also noticed some were traveling fast enough to have a water skier behind. In the MB they were set in waypoints to 10 knots !? This will cure that?
 
Mostly on topic ... after you have the bugs worked out of the LL bombsight ... before you post it, would you consider a "package" with both LL and HL versions? ... That would be FANTASTIC!:friday::friday::jump:

When they evade...they call up max speed, ...even from a 10kt convoy.

It's a free-for-all...

This will give them all a default 11.5kt speed (for convoys), ...and whatever the ind. ship max speed (not over 19kts).

Why, ...yes, ...of course...

The HL (200mph/1.00Xzoom) (2K-15K ft) is on the "Page_Up" key.
The LL (200mph/0.62Xzoom) (50-2k ft) is on the "Page_Down" key.

The Bombardier panel is on the "F9" key, ...and is used for both HL and LL bombsights.

I made a large gauge panel, ...but it is full length (height) on the left side of the sight, ...and is visually intrusive to the LL sight field of view, ...so I may only offer it as an extra.(works fine for the HL)

Thanks BD. Too bad MS got the metric and the US-British standard of measurement all mixed up into one sim. They also got the X-Y-Z notations mixed up between the aircraft.cfg file and the panel.cfg file. It all makes for some confusing moments.

I went through my cargo ship add on module and changed all my cargo ships to reflect the lower speeds and then reinstalled the package into my active installations. It should make the convoys a bit more manageable. There was a very large dispersion in speeds between ships of simiar classes, probably due to the kilometers v. knots per hour issue.
