Carrier Operations

Has anyone tried the Rob Barendregt RCBCO 3.0 Carrier Ops gauges pack for FSX in P3D? I used an earlier version in FS2004 and loved it. Never really got around to it in FSX though due to other issues. I eventually found it this morning and have it downloaded and hopefully get it installed in the next few days. But if anyone has any experience with it in P3D, I'd love to hear about.

I think carrier op guys in P3D tend to favour the gauge from Restauravia these days. It was never really my 'thing' despite loving all of the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm birds over the years.

Our own @Cees Donker would be the guy to ask as he does a LOT of carrier stuff. Maybe he can add some info for you to get started Willy.

Absolutely! Whenever I fly P3D, I always practice carrier ops.
Restauravia houses RFN on its site:

Apart from the RFN gauge you'll need AiCarriers.

Trust me Willy, you'll never return to RCBCO, this is so much better! With this you can place a moving carrier anywhere.

You can PM me for any questions.

I used RCBCO 30 to recreate catapault launches of SOC and Kingfisher seaplanes off cruisers and battleships. I have a thread here in FSX about how I did that. here is the link to it if you are interested:

But I agree with using the Restauravia and RFN Gauges. I also use Carrier Convoy Planner which you can still find I believe here that is awesome once you learn how to use it. Your carrier and its escorts can depart on a deployment wherever you send them with CCP and FSX@War including placement on deck.

Rob's gauge was needed for traps and launches in FS9 whereas it's already built in for FSX and P3D. For navigating I got lazy using the RFN gauge and discovered you can more easily find the carrier battle groups using littlenavmap.
