Fellows I found on the net information giving info about full carrier ops. I zipped up the info and will try to attach and upload the info. This gives us the correct landing pattern from group to squadron to each plane in the landing pattern. It gives the distance operation and use of each ship as well as the distance between task groups air ops. and diagrams of ship locations with in the task group. It is so complete it even gives the use of ship lights at night. This was written in or around 1941 but didn`t change much over the years. The only change I can figure would be night ops for a CVN task group.

I made these notes a lonngg time ago (30+ years), source was a book on Carrier Operations Pacific 1944 (Marianas Turkey Shoot)
Both nations used circular AA formations with 1 to 4 carriers at the centre. BBs CA,CL & DDs in the outer circle.
US formations used one CV as formation guide, with other CVs on a 2000yd circle & escorting BBs, CA, CL, & DD on a 4000yd circle. US vessels would manouevre ONLY to avoid an immediate threat, reatining the integrity of the formation otherwise.
JAP formations cotaine 1 to 3 CVs, using one CV as the formation guide. The remaining CVs were placed on each quarter of the formation guide on a 1500yd circle., whilst the CLs & DDs were disposed about a 2000yd circle. Often once under air attack these vessels manouevred independently, with little thought to mutual protection and support & the the formation broke up under sustained air attacks.
