Cars on roads

Just wanted to add that they can be seen when on the ground and at 17,000 feet.

I got the first one downloaded with no problems. The second site has six downloads to choose from. Obviously the last one's not the one we want - it has to do with sounds. Which one of the other five is the one I should download from the second site?

Willy, Warhorse, Stuart & Moses! Earlier in this thread E.Matheson stated that these effects DO NOT work with Ultimate Terrain.

Should I conclude that none of you have UT installed? :ques:

I don't have Ultimate Terrain installed. I have Silver Wings [sheepish grin]

Me neither. They work fine with GE-Pro though.

No Ultimate Terrain here either. I'm using a mix of Silver Wings, Golden Hawaii water, Raimondo Tabueret world mesh and other bits and pieces I've picked up over the years.

(to be honest, I don't really know what Ultimate Terrain involves)

I installed the FS9_Roads package....and WOW. The little 3D cars rock...and the moving lights at night really add to the realism of my sim. One thing however.....the autogen file (default.xlm) has the entries that result in icebergs being strewn about on land. I will have to modify that file to get rid of the icebergs. I have no idea why MS felt the need to put icebergs all over the land but none on the oceans (well, there may be icebergs out to sea someplace...but since I don't fly out over the oceans, I will never see them).

Or if you lazy like me you can disable default.xml there's no changes in traffic all cars are on roads like they been before :jump:

I will tweak the default.xml file after I get home from work tonight and will attach it as a zip file for all to grab.

Icebergs?
I haven't experienced any!... Could it be global warming? :)

Tim, whilst you are digging around in the XML files, perhaps you could find a way of reducing the speed of the light effects?
I have tried all kinds of parameters without success.

Willy, Stuart & Moses! Thank you for replying.

My only hope lies with Warhorse.

Warhorse, doyou have UT installed? :ques:

OBIO, Willy -
I remember an iceberg problem from the UK Visual Flight Forum. The links below might give you a few leads.
The cause seemed to be an add-on scenery which introduced a rogue scenery object, and added the GUID for it to the default.xml
One fix was to simply over-write the dud default.xml with the genuine original, but I wouldn't rush in and do that.
Note (1) - there is a link to the vfraddons forum - sadly that resource is now defunct.
Note (2) - the pics in my post referring to a two-storey building turned out to be irrelevant. I still have them, but not in my webspace.

Note George (ananda)'s comment:
I've found the original iceberg problem. Here it is in FS and AGenT. The offending GUID is EE0BE4417F4F44E49853E65300FE8D4F which is not in the default.xml so where did it come from?

Hope this helps

I've had the problem before and there was some changes that needed to be made to the file that governs the auto gen. Just can't remember what they were.

Removing the icebergs is easy...just a bit time consuming. This is what one of the Iceberg sections looks like:

<CLASS>

<DEPTH>30.0</DEPTH>
<LIBRARYOBJECT>

</LIBRARYOBJECT>
<LIBRARYOBJECT>

</LIBRARYOBJECT>
<LIBRARYOBJECT>

</LIBRARYOBJECT>
<LIBRARYOBJECT>

</LIBRARYOBJECT>
<LIBRARYOBJECT>

</LIBRARYOBJECT>
</CLASS>

There are a number of these sections down through the default.xml file. It just takes time to find them all, highlight them, and delete them.
