JA691, a Fiskterton-based Lancaster, was among the bomber aircraft involved and an extremely detailed account of the attack and JA691's crew's fate is on BomberHistory.co.uk. 576 Sqn's last combat sortie from the airfield was to participate in the attack on Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden in Bavaria.
