CFS1 WW1

Hello all...from Ohio USA.....have flown many sims over the past ten years...My strongest interest is in World War One. Have been creating missions for quite some time for CFS1, OFF Phase 2 and 3,and Rise of Flight. Also some WW2 .... Decided to go back in time a bit and continue making WW1 missions and campaigns for CFS1...Always kind of liked CFS1. Not sure how much interest there is now in WW1 for this sim but none the less I am going to make some new WW1 missions.Thought I would post here as posting about my projects seems to give me some extra enthusiasm.. I believe I have most of the WW1 planes made for CFS1 but I am always looking for more to fill my sim out. May try my hand at creating a couple of planes and perhaps some WW1 scenery..Will check in occasionally here as my projects gain some momentum.:salute: sweeteye

Fokker eiii

I have two eiii's.....One is named Fok_eiii and the other is named Fok eiii in the aircraft folder.... The Fok eiii comes from the Belgian campaign by A.F. Scrub I downloaded off of Simviation I believe.... I am not sure where the Fok_eiii was downloaded from.... it has been quite a number of years ago and I do not remember where I downloaded some of the aircraft from...do not see a credit for the Fok_eiii....Interestingly enough I just made a mission using the Fok eiii last night..... I am going to make several more missions using the eiii's.....Working towards putting together a lengthy campaign for both the Allies and the Central Powers....Decided to start with the Central Powers first....Want to cover the entire war starting from 1916 through 1918 for each side....Also... wondering if there is a panel available somewhere for the eiii's?....Have to use the virtual cockpit view and there are no gauges.....not sure if I have yours or not...certainly would like to have it if I do not.....:icon29:

Good to see some interest in WWI. I have the commercial WWI expansion I think originally from Just Flight. Fairly basic but I like it. So WWI does go down well with CFS1.

If possible could you do complete packs with all required scenery aircraft and missions etc. In the past I have seen a lot of good missions etc posted but it was too hard to find all the required components. I remember a Pearl Harbour project awhile ago that fell into that category, looked great but too hard for the casual user to get all the required extras.

Anyway good luck with your project, and I will keep an eye out on your posted progress.

Cheers MarkL

Last night I was thinking that I should include the aircraft when I make the missions and campaigns available for download. Will do....I do not have much experience making scenery but would like to try.....wish I had that project done so I could build my missions around the scenery....The WW1 scenery that is available seems to be hard to build missions around because you have to use the exel 97 spread sheets and type in all the data which is time consuming....The mission editor I am using is much easier but because the scenery is located off to the sides of the maps I cannot use them....at least I have not figured out an easy way to get to the scenery areas.....Thought maybe the scenery could be moved to a different location so I could use it but am not sure if that is possible or would be a good idea....

I am pretty sure from your description that you don't have my version of the E.III Eindecker. My current avatar is a screenshot of a front view of this plane. Mine has a pretty basic panel done from a screenshot of the actual model. It isn't really complicated but then again, there were actually fewer instruments on the real aircraft. You can find it for download at this site under the CFS1 Aircraft Add-Ons.

Mine is probably called EindeckerE3 or something like that. I think you will like it though I will warn you that AI generally can't fly this plane because like the original, it is fairly unstable.

Let me know what you think if you download this critter.

Cool ....Thanks Ivan.....Going to download and install it .....Great timing since I am working on eiii missions right now.....I will make a mission using it and check it out.........:guinness: Sounds like it might be good to fly in a one vs one mission....or perhaps use it as the player aircraft and use other eiii's for the AI planes....

Ivan....just did a quick test of your plane in free flight.....it seems much more realistic to fly than the other ones I have......I made a very nice takeoff.....flew around a little checking out roll, pitch, and yaw..... went in for a landing but I let my airspeed down too much and crashed it.......fantastic work you have done on this plane....I can see it will be fun to fly in combat......thank you for creating this plane....Now to make some missions for it....:salute:

Thanks for directing me to the site No Dice......Looks like a great flight sim site......I see a lot of very useful files and they will sure come in handy.....Hoping I am able to use some of the scenery files through the mission editor I am using. To be honest the main reason I have decided to do a project for CFS1 is freedom....Not going to get into a rant about the new flight sims as I do like them(at least certain aspects) and will continue to fly them(eventually).....I just like to have freedom.....Also I like to create missions and fly them in an actual campaign(not just flying missions back to back and calling it a campaign) which I am not able to do with the WW1 sims I have last purchased..... :applause: Not sure how long it will take me to get the German campaign finished and ready to make available...may trim the number of missions down some for each campaign....would like to have at least a dozen missions for each one.

Thanks Sweeteye.

I kinda like this plane, but I have to admit that it has a LOT of limitations.
The lateral stability is actually much higher than where I started.
The AI can ALMOST fly this version whereas before, it would just wobble the plane back and forth all the way to the ground.

Many pieces of the Eindecker are 2D but I don't think it actually hurts the appearance much.

@ No Dice

No Dice....Seem to be having some problems with the WW1 files I have downloaded from freeflight....Not 100% sure just yet but ...I cannot get the WW1 France scenery to compile or rather build the database ......I cannot get the WW1 Camp_missions to run....getting an aircraft initialization error and corrupt file mission file error....also the WW1 aircraft panel zip file is empty....Not sure if the problems are on my end or not.... Still a few files I have not tried to install just yet....Going to work on it some more and see if I might be able to figure out if I am doing something wrong with the installations.... Seems odd though....especially the empty aircraft panels zip file.....The aircraft work in freeflight though....

Sweet,
I am having no problems with the downloads to date, I just now tested the aircraft and then the panel zips.
Without a problem. Please re-download and then unzip into a temp folder. Make a folder in C:
name it addons. Download the zip into the addons folder. Open the zip in the addons folder. Open the folder
, go to tool bar and "select All" , drag and drop them into your CFS1 Aircraft folder.

Repeat the same with the Panels.

I will check out the scenery zips in a minute or so.

Dave

I have already done as you suggested......must be something on my end....strange as the panels folder shows it to be 455 KB but if I try to open it to just look at it it says corrupt. If I try to extract it it says folder is empty...did redownload it also...The scenery I am probably just not installing right....I have had some strange things going on with my PC today.I did do a reinstall of CFS just in case...Sorry to raise some alarm....just not sure whats going on with my computer.....I was trying to run a mission I made some years ago that I had put onto disc to save....Caused my game to crash and rearranged all my desktop icons as well as did something strange to my other C drive settings....

Sorry about that Sweet, But everything checks out on this end.

Are you following my suggested install by creating 2 seperate CFS1 sims?
All the planes must be in your Aircraft folder, you can not pick and choose,
some are AI for the missions, some have alias panel or sounds.

The add on panels are to be added after the aircraft are installed, just delete the
entire panel folder within the aircraft folder and then drag and drop the new panel
folder into the aircraft folder. All gauges in the panel folder should be dragged and
dropped into the CFS1 main gauges folder. ( if the panel folder within the A/C folder
is empty...it is intended to be an AI A/C only)

Please check out my Utilitiy1 and Tutorials sections for more help.

Dave......Was able to get the files to download properly after working on my PC system a bit....Starter scenery and aircraft now working....Just cannot get the starter campaign missions to load for some reason....getting errors...not sure why.....will keep working on it:medals:....Having the scenery working is the the most important since it is located in France and I will be able to build missions around it.....Thank you again.....

Mission problem fix, If you did my seperate CFS1WWI install you will need to check thge Z" planes
sound folder, some had an alias to the BF109, change to the camel or another of your choice.

I have corrected the Aircraft in the new Download zip to reflect this.

Ready to get going with mission building....After spending several hours working with the three mission editors I have trying to figure out how to get the planes to take off from the WW1 scenery area airfields I finally decided to compromise and use the nearest stock airfields. I would have to use the most time consuming editor to access the scenery area airstrips it seems...This is the actual excel 97 spreadsheets and I really do not like typing for hours on end. With the easiest editor to use I have, the player aircraft seems to always be started and moving on the non stock airfields and I can find no way to edit in the scenery area airstrips.......Gets kind of difficult to explain ....Anyways I should be able to get things moving along...:guinness:Might try to post some screenshots of a few mission test flights just for the fun of it....:running:

I will send you some info shortly on setting up the mission editor for the WW1 airfields.
I have guests coming, so shortly could mean in the morning.
