Looking to get back into the best flight sim MS ever put out but have a question.
Will CFS2 run on Windows 7 home premium or is it to outdated? And is there a difference between the original MS version and the new disc only one I'm seeing on Ebay.

thanks Ragnar250

I too am using Windows 7 (64 bit) on this lap top I've got with me. The only issue I have is that my CFS 2 window will sometimes drop to the task bar and stay there. I can't expand it back to the screen, but it keeps playing until the plane crashes. This happened with Vista on my older lap top too and the only solution is to right click on it and exit. Fortunately it only happens once in a while.

In WindowsXP, you can use the task manager to "bring to front" any application. That will usually restore a stubborn program to the desktop. Maybe Windows7 has something similar.

Task Manager

Thanks Dick. I wasn't aware of the feature. I'll check it the next time this happens to me.

What I find interesting is that this lap top plays FS 9 maxed out way better than my PC (built for flight sims) at home, but it does not do near as well with CFS 2 giving marginal frame rates and no ability to make complicated scenery or missions, due to the frame rate issue. Seems odd to me.

ok one more question, some are saying that CFS2 won't run on the newer quad core computers, anyone had issues one these newer computers.

Runs great on my quad core at home and OK to marginal (frame rates) on this duel core lap top.

I'm not sure if CFS 2 can take advantage of the multiple processing cores or if it just runs on one. Perhaps that is behind my post above on CFS 2 v. FS 9 performance with this lap top.

Neither CFS2 nor FS9 are capable of using more than a single processor. Even the latest and greatest FSX wasn't designed for a multi-processor environment, though I've heard there are ways of coaxing it to use more than one core. Of course, having a multi-core processor means that the o/s doesn't need to keep borrowing the same core as that used by the simulator.

dont worry!

iam using windows 7 professional 32 bit and when i reduce screen (minimice) then it does`nt work anymore , this is my only problem. But i find many reasons to tell u that is better run cfs2 with win7 and work with the add ons files. dont go back.:salute:
