CFS2 Crashing

:salute:So I downloaded the great LOD world scenery for cfs2 for my ETO and MTO installs, looks great however for some weird reason the game randomly shuts down. In my Mto instal when ever i fly over a certain part of malta CFS2 crashes, and in my ETO install I instaled a lot of Rami's ETO missions and camaignes, although a lot of the time the game will generaly shut down while i'm in the middle of a mission.

I was wandering if anyone would heve somesort of idea of what could be causing this, or maybe if there is someone that had a similar problem could help me out. Any push in the right direction would be appreciated.
 
Someone will be by soon to help out... I am more a scenery designer... what version OS you running on that machine... may check out your Event Logs...

Start- Control Panel- Admin Tools.... Event Viewer... look under Applications... see if anything referring to CFS2

I'm up with my kids right now, but tomorrow I'll help nail this down. Malta is tricky to set up properly. It could be layering, bad filelist.dat files, or a myriad of other issues. I'm just too tired to think straight at the moment.
 
I use windows 7 it's still windows, and windows always causes some sort of problem.

No rush though I have have class tomorrow, thanks crash and rami apreciate the help

For Malta I used an unorthodox method of adding the airfields and the mesh in tot eh same folder. After that I put it on my scsnery list on the same level as the rest of my meshes. Its below my Euro Mesh, but above all other meshes. If its not placed like I have it it just won't work properly. The Malta Mesh is a must have if your PC can handle it, but it's a temperamental add-on.

Have you confirmed it is the mesh? ie have you removed the mesh and the problem goes away? Which mesh is it exactly?

Is there any message in the error.log file in the root of your CFS install?

Hi Wildcat

That kind CTD happens sometimes caused by one or several texture bmp desfectuous the right weight for a 256x256 bmp must be 86,4 ko ,check your scenedb/world/texture to see ,using the mouse ,if there are some of them (86,3ko for example).
What set(s) of textures do you use ?

For matla I only use the LOD and whatever came with BSK Malta, the texture set I use is Seasons for CFS2
prepared by simonu the summer ones. In my other ETO instal I only instaled the LOD scenery and the texture set I use is Milan Lisner's Euro Summer textures. I have noticed though that some of the buildings on the Euro airfeilds are all black, the texture is missing. Could that be why the game keeps crashing?

Hi Wildcat

If I remember I've already have CTD using the Milan's texture surely the nicest set for Eto but I suspect that there are one or several wrong bmp .
Can you remind me the link if you have it ,I could check the set and corrige this(se) bmp,Because I would like use it this too.

I've checked the bmp they are ok for the format but I remember ,don't no why ,to have this issue with a set dowloaded from somewhere(?).cz site, I think it's this one,there is a back up bat,remove it and try another to test .:kilroy:

Hey Jean Bomber thanks for the advice, I replaced the world textures and the problem stopped, what texture set would you recommend for the ETO?

Also the weird thing I noticed is that when ever I bail out of my plane the game also crashes, does anyone know why that could be?

Hi Wildcat

Happy that a part of your issues are solved but about the bail out I couldn't help you....which plane? does that happened with all? ,etc....?
I use for ETO the spring (cfs2sp.zip)or summer(cfs2su.zip) texture from the Rhumba's (Richard Ludowise) cfs2 (5) seasonal texture sets from the Avsim library but I don't know if today these zip can be dowloaded the site ,as SOH, have had some perturbations last year ...:blind:

Wildcat; have you in any way added ,or deleted ,something to the Uries or the country file? I was having that problem (bailout crashing) until I found that some of the Uries I had added were not in sync with each other. Took awhile, and a lot of renaming, but it seemed to stop when all were working together.
