CFS3 Wont Install

I am trying to make a new install of CFS3 so i can update and load ETO but....

it says it cant find a file..and that it may be broken or corrupted ...and it wont run the updates..both crash out before completing..... the 3.1 one wont complete past 93%

OK UPDATE:

i tried to uninstall but the uninstall process borked. I tried to clean out all traces of the install manually, removed the files from My Doccuments and erased the CFS3 folder but now i get this error when i try to install:

combat flight simulator 3 setup is unable to create the directory F://aircraft

i tried to clean my registry and reboot, but still get this error.

i am about to see if the CFS3 Disks can fly and how far...but will wait to see if anyone has any suggestoins.

It installed fine before, and I have the former install moved into a an alternative folder with a new name using that multiple CFS3 install program..is that possibly interferring with the install program? I have no idea why it wont install...
 
is this a DRM issue possibly? what sort of DRM did Microsoft put on this disks? i have several DVD copying programs that i use legitimatly and i do not intend to remove them to install one program that may not like them. Just wondered if it was a SecROOM issue?

and why is the game trying to install to my F drive? i use the C drive....

I have the entire sim install backed up on a DVD but it is with firepower included..is there any way to install ETO at all with Firepower installed? if not, then i am at a dead end i suppose ..unless i can figure out why the basic sim wont install ....

it just wont create any of the files....
 
Haven't a clue what copy protection MS used, but have you also removed the CFS3 folder from the Application Data folder before reinstalling?
Default locations are -

XP:- C:\Documents and Settings\userName\Application Data\Microsoft\Combat Flight Simulator 3.0

Vista and Win7:- C:\Users\userName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Combat Flight Simulator 3.0


and ETO will not install properly over a Firepower-modded CFS3 install. See the ETO Installation guide for the full low-down, it's in the SOH Add-on Archive under CFS3 Other.
 
I did remove the folders from both the My Doccuments and the other location in the Application folder,

i know ETO wont install or will MAW....and at this point the only working install i have of CFS3 is the one that hs it stored on a disk as a backup. I am getting rather frustrated... i try again and again it work install and i dont have a clue. it just wont form or install any of the falls that the install needs and i dont know why.

I had an error reading one file when it installed the first time successfully,.....so i tired to use the uninstall optoin on the menu of the installed game on the menu. It would not complete..said the uninstall file was not working. So i tried to remove it with the Program Control Panel....and that did not work either. So i removed the game folders manually and used a registry cleaner to clear out the registry notice of CFS3 being on my computer.

I dont have a clue now why it wont install, I will try buying another set of game disks from Amazon and see if that will work. if not, i am stuck. I just thought maybe someone had some knowledge of how this might happen and how it might be fixed. I really hoped to see the ETO and the MAW mods at least.
 
Is everything else working properly on your system? Just checking...

Otherwise a fresh CD set may be needed - should be pretty cheap nowadays.
