Champ Camp redux: landing a Champ on a grass strip.

Cazzie

SOH-CM-2024
Didn't have enough time this afternoon for much of any flying, but I took "Charlie Crown", an Aeronca 7AC Champ, out of Hanger 11 at KDAN Danville, VA abd flew a very short hop to Caswell County Airport at Yanceyville. Thought I'd record the landing. Spot View landing in Instant Replay.

You have to have the latest Flash Player Harleyman.

I got the same message as you fellows one moment, then went and clicked on it again and it played. go figure, try it again, probably doing site maintenance and having bug-a-boos.

That tree is actually there, I posted a reall landing at caswell here a month or so ago. that's why i never remover them from my strips, they arer there in real life!

It has to be a steep final angle of attack and I was close, but I did not clip it. Look close and you will even see me tip the wing up at tad.

We still fly over there on occasion when my buddy Gill is in town. the field is used more by R/C modelers now, but people still fly in and out regularly. it is the nearest non-private grass field for the aviation students at Averette College, so they are always doings tounch and goes and landings there.

I was JK about clipping the tree...I did see you raise the wingtip to clear...it was a close one for sure...Nice job, and a perfect 3 point landing too..:ernae:

Great landing Caz! Spot on and a 3 pointer as well!

:applause:

Pretty cool how you raised that wing on approach, lol.. I was seeing that coming and you did it.

The Europeans seem to really love grass strips. Tons of photos over there of GA planes at grass strips on weekends.. Must be good fun.
