• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

And for the purist here, it's sitting in front of a hanger....:icon_lol:

Wow, looks exactly like my high school friend Mike's VW, way back when. :applause:
It was only 40hp, so couldn't get into too much trouble.
If I remember, he slid off the road one winter.
No damage, we just pushed/lifted it out of the ditch back onto the road and continued to school.
That air cooled engine never could produce enough heat to keep the windshield defrosted. :icon_lol:

After seeing your souped up bug... I brought out the old '51 Beetle! My father was stationed in Germany and bought a new black '58 Beetle and shipped it back to the states.

Many years later he bought a used '64 Beetle, and decided to replace the put-put engine with a Super Bug 1600cc. It barely fit between the frames, but man did it have power!

I used to restore these back in the early 90's. I had a '77 Beetle Cal looker with all of the early panels (sloping headlights, long bonnet and decklid) slammed suspension, 1641cc fully chromed and detailed engine, Ford Fiesta XR2i interior,in Porsche Guards Red paint and rolling on US imported polished EMPI 8 spoke alloys. It took me 4 years to rebuild it, every nut, bolt, washer and rubber replaced and it was written off 3 weeks after it's debut. :(
